Hair cut without sacrificing too much length?

I badly need my hair cut/trimmed. I've been growing it out for so so long and I would hate to lose any unnecessary length. My hair is curly, so it's really tough to grow it out and actually see a difference but the ends are split and need to be trimmed. I am also looking for a little change in my hair as I am a little bored with it. Is there any cut that I can ask for that won't sacrifice too much length, but would still be changing it up a bit? For reference, I already have angled hair in the front, so I have a slight v cut in the back. Thanks!

I have the long curly hair as well so I understand your thoughts. I would just trim the split ends. Tell them that and that's what they'll do. As for change, try layering or cutting some pieces to frame your face!

When my hair was badlllly damaged I just told them that I wanted a trim because I need to get rid of split ends. The lady doing my hair looked at my hair and told me where she would have to cut it and then I agreed and let her do her thing. I also asked for layers hoping that more split ends get cut off without losing anymore actual length. My hair went from below my but to just above it. If you want a change maybe some side bangs and adding some layers?

Just ask for what you NEED off. I know there's a big controversy about hair stylists taking off too much, but what's the point of have long hair, if its all stringy and mangled looking at the ends? And if it's been a while since you've gotten a hair cut, be prepared because she might have to take off a bit, but just explain to them that you're trying to let it grow out. As for to change it up, your best bet would probably be to get long layers, they'll create volume and bounce in your curls. :) hope I helped!!

Microtrums, regularly scheduled with deep conditions and Virgin, Cold Pressed Coconut Oil masks. You get a MICROTRIM...then you cut the length of your new growth with each future trim so you don't lose length. You must be determined and patient..no missing trims..and this will help loads. I would also consider long layers if you need change.

I agree with Sadie! I always tell my stylist that I like having longer hair and I just want my split ends off. I've never seemed to have a problem with it. Your hair won't grow if it's all split and stringy at the bottom so you might as well cut off what's needed so it can continue to grow (:
