I hope to be a makeup artist and have practised on family. My family have spread good word and a friend would like me to do her makeup. How do I get over the nervousness?

Practice! Always ask to do your family/friends' makeup, the more you do it the better you'll get and the less nervous you'll be

Hi Ataahua, congrats on your adventure into makeup. I will be honest, you'll never stop being nervous but you'll soon enough be more confident. I've been in it for many years lol and I still get the nerve's, this business is not all about what they show you on social media it's a beast of hard work, earn the title MUA. Always ask the person question about the look,go in prepared, get familiar with techniques and names and practice on any face you can get, earn your stripes. It's completely ok to be nervous that means you will always strive to be better. :) Best of luck.

I agree with the ladies above, definitely ask what the person wants, what looks she's going for, etc. Be careful with products, make sure she isn't allergic to anything you're using! You can ask her or if she doesn't know, do a skin test. When I did a friends makeup for Prom, I stopped every so often so she could look at herself. Of course since it wasn't finished it didn't look right, but she let me what she was and wasn't comfortable with. She wasn't comfortable with liquid eyeliner, so I had to use gel and black eyeshadow to smoke it out. Just make sure you talk to her first and get her take on it :) Have fun!

Definitely agree with the ladies. I still get really anxious. I think what makes me anxious is not knowing if theyr going to like it. So Ask the client questions like how they normally wear they're make up. BC they can say they want "this eye" but if they don't have a whole lot of liner, like they normally wear, it won't look good to them. I definitely agree with Jacqueline. If they client sees you nervous thn they will start to get nervous. Just clam down remember your in this BC you love it. There have been times that I want to cancel so bad BC I was nervous and anxious but followed through and ended up with extremely happy clients.

You'll always feel the jitters, but practice always helps! And remember, you are the aspiring mua so you should know best!! Sometimes the client may think a certain look they want will look the same on their face, but we all have different shapes and tones in our faces, do what you think is best for the client while still following her inspiration, remember, confidence is key!! ✨ good luck love!
