Are all hair ties not the same? I'm sure the essentials ones should be fine. But if you're worried while you're in the store you can usually feel them to see how sturdy they are

Just take the hair tie and stretch it a bit. If it's easy to stretch it might break easier, look for hair ties that are a bit harder to stretch, those are sturdier imo
