Cakey foundation from summer heat?!

Hiya!! So it seems whichever foundation I'm using I literally can't apply any to my nose or sides of my nose without it caking up, which is okay but not ideal.
I generally use Estée Lauder Double Wear, MUFE Matte Velvet, Revlon Colourstay, Cover FX Cover Drops with moisturizer or other such similar foundations. Is it the foundation type I'm using?
I take pretty good care of my skin so I don't believe that's the issue, but I s'pose it could be!
In terms of primers I use Lancôme La Base Pro, Benefit Porefessional or none at all. I set with MAC MSF Natural & Urban Decay Setting Spray.
Sorry for the length I'm just really at a loss & maybe some you have weird tips I haven't tried?! Not to mention it's always worse in the Summer heat. Greatly appreciated!

I have no real advice on this but you're not alone. My skin is dry plus with the summer heat I cake up really quick!! I had to switch to something lighter than foundation if I can. I use bb creams or just concealer. It isn't always easy but I found it easier to maintain!

Mine always looked cakey too until I started using those sponges (they look like little triangles) and used that to blend. Do you apply by using your fingers? That could be part of it. The sponges help blend out my foundation better. You can get them anywhere... I got mine from target for $1. Just a thought though.

Is exfoliation a part of your skincare routine? If you are already doing so then it might be an issue with the primers not agreeing with the foundation.

Thanks ladies!
Meagan, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one! Maybe I should try the bb cream route.
Brandi, I generally use a stippling brush or damp beauty blender & haven't had luck with either!
Shelley,
I do manually exfoliate 2x per week, use a Clarisonic at night & chemically exfoliate with aha 10% once a week. I guess I could be over exfoliating? My skin seems to do well with this routine though.

If its keeping acne at bay then don't tweak your skincare. Sounds like my routine...just minus the Clarisonic. ;)

Do you use primer and set you foundation after??

Cakey foundation is usually the result of an application problem - I think I remember miss Jacqueline speaking about it before - but I would try using less foundation - you only need a pea size amount for your WHOLE face and nothing more - if you try to build it up for extra coverage then it will look cakey and there is not many ways to avoid it unless you are applying it properly and blending it out correctly - she can probably give more detailed and better tips than me - so hopefully she sees this

Smashbox has a good and light bb cream. It covers pretty well! I found I really like how it feels on my skin. However, there are tons of other bb creams that are really good too :)

I find that what makes my foundation clary is not the foundation itself but the powder. During the summer, as weird as this sounds, I never use powder and just use blotting sheets throughout the day. I find that this keeps shine and oil low even on very hot days. agree with Meagan, the Smashbox bob cream is great. It's medium coverage and has a pretty latte finish and as long as you don't top it with powder never looks cakes. If you really feel like you need a powder I highly recommend the NYX mineral finishing powder. It's super finely milled and light so it really eliminates that cakey look.

Thanks again everyone!
Meagan,
Just realized I have a deluxe sample of that bb cream so going to try that out! :)
Jamie,
I was wondering if it was the powder, I'll have to pick up that one since the one I'm currently using (MAC MSF Natural) is a medium to fuller coverage powder.
