Hello ladies. So In the past two years or less I have found that Argan oil works wonders for my ultra fine hair. I usually use the OGX Argan conditioner with my shampoos. Recently, my bf mother got boxes and boxes of biolage shampoo (too lazy to find out which but will if needed). My bf brilliantly thought of the idea to buy Argan oil and mix it into the shampoo bottles. My question is: how many drops of it should I use for a whole bottle? Has anyone done this before? If worst comes to worse I'll try to figure out "serving" size/bottle of Argan and work out if it would even pay off.

Thanks all!!

Well I think it depends on how much pure Argan oil you use on your hair normally - probably 2-5 drops each time you use it right? So probably no more than 5-10% Argan oil is needed in the shampoo bottle I would think.

Here's the thing, I've never used just Argan oil 100%. It has always been in a product as an ingredient. Like the OGX shampoo and the renpure Argan oil. 😕

Gotcha well in that case look at where the Argan oil is in the ingredients list and go from there - if it's low it means it's also low in concentration (if it's one of the last 3 ingredients probably 5% or less) if it's one of the first 3 then probably has more in it like 50-75% so you can try and use that to gauge how much or you can try to find DIY Argan oil shampoo recipes and see what they use.

Thanks so much Diana! I just looked up the ingredient list (attached). Argan is pretty far down. So for a 13oz bottle maybe I'd use...5drops? lol

Don't understand why you would put Argan oil in your shampoo unless you wash your hair for more then 10 min at a time?

Jo-anne, Argan oil, in moderation, has a lot of benefits. Personally, I use products with Argan in them. I never used Argan all alone. My hope is that I can add the oil to shampoo I already have in order to save some $$ in the long run

Yeah maybe start with a small amount like 5 drops then see if you need more after you try it :)

Wow Jackie, your boyfriend seems quite brilliant! I'd keep him 😉 but yea I'd go with Diana on this one and just play around. Start off small and add as you see fit because you can always add more, but you can't take it out if it's too much haha anyway great idea and I may just have to try this!!

The hair repair system I use has Argania spinosa kernel oil (Argan Oil) as the common ingredient in the shampoo, conditioner, hair mask, & leave in treatment. I thought if you ladies looked at the ingredients it would help pro-naturals.com/pro-naturals-hair-repair-system
I started using it in December 2014 and I am happy to say that my hair is back to being full of bounce, shine, no brittle hair and definitely no split ends even though I use a hairdryer and hair styling iron every 3 days on average.
On Pro Naturals list of ingredients for the argan oil leave in treatment it is the 1st.

Ok ladies, so that picture of the ingredients is not in the correct order. Argan oil is like the 4th ingredient lol.

@Raylene - he is definitely a keeper!! I was like "that's such a great idea!!" Lol very true. I'll add drops slowly in both the shampoo and conditioner.

@Linthats really great that you found a product that works! I'm not looking to physically make my shampoo. But just want to add the oil to existing shampoos
