I hope this is the right category...
But calling all beauties of Beautylish! I have a problem. I'm on this medication for my rosacea and its doxycycline. It's a very strong antibiotic and I've been on it for about 6-7 months now. Well it makes your skin VERY sensitive to sun exposure and it dries out your skin in general. My skin was already sensitive, given my skin tone. We went in the boat yesterday and I put on ALOT on sunscreen on my face. Well my face was a little red, and I can tell it was very irritated because when I moisturized my skin burned horribly and it hasn't done that before.
Well this morning I woke up with a dry patch on the left side of my mouth that recedes down to my chin and I have no idea how to fix it. It burns very badly. Any suggestions will be helpful!

Oh jeez I'm so sorry. That sounds awful, my best suggestion would be to use Aloe Vera like pure Aloe or the gel thats good for skin. Aside from that I'm not entirely sure.

I would call your doctor and ask.

I'm on doxy. Do you know if your sunscreen was broad spectrum and what SPF it was? I have crazy sensitive skin so I use protection that is zinc-oxide or titanium dioxide based. Because you were on a boat, water increased your vulnerability with the sun..and then throw in all that open air and wind. No wonder you are hurting. I'm so sorry! I personally would apply aloe and use only cool water and Jojoba oil to seal in moisture...and then phone my derm. They may be able to advise you over the phone and know your skin best.

Personally I would contact the doctor or dermatologist that you are seeing and go from there. Hope you feel better soon.

I would be careful applying anything because it could react with the medicine and make it even worse. I would definitely go see your doctor asap. Hope it gets better girl!

Definitely contact your dermatologist. I have rosacea as well and even the littlest things can set it off. Sometimes, sun exposure can be killer. What brand of sunscreen did you use? I use one by Elta MD made for rosacea. It actually calms my skin. In the meantime, you should be fine using aloe. If you've never used it before, patch test it on your wrist first.
Hope you feel better soon :)

I phone my derm with such things and they are really helpful. I'm sure yours will be as well.
