I'm a beginner when it comes to contouring so I need tips or recommendations please:) I have oily skin so would cream or powder contour be best? I've seen some videos on cream contour but I noticed they used the cream then powder to set it so I'm confused to why not just using powder contour?? Also is cream harder to work with than powder? I've heard great things from the ABH contour kits and please tell me any others you love or would be good for me.

In my opinion, definitely powder! I use powder and it blends beautifully, where cream (in my opinion) just looks muddy. People use cream then powder to set it because if you don't set it, it could become muddy and smudge off. It's like with foundation/concealer. Normally you set it to make it stay and last through out the the day. In my opinion, cream is a little more difficult to work with overall because it takes a skilled hand to apply it without looking muddy. I use Concealer (Maybelline Fit Me) to highlight and Hoola Benefits Matte Bronzer to contour. It's beautiful, and stays the entire day. It's a tad pricey, but well worth it! I hope I helped Love!

I prefer powder and I also have oily skin. I think ABH contour kits are pretty awful color wise. They're far too orange for contouring, just too warm. Both the cream and powder contour are just too orange. I've never worked with any creams since I haven't found any I really like, but I do know that the best powder contour you'll ever but is the Kevyn Aucoin sculpting powder.

Also, the Hoola bronzer from Benefit is beautiful, but not for contouring. Don't use bronzers to contour and contouring should mimic shadows on the face which are cooled toned and grayish, not warm like bronzers. But if you want to do that, I suppose it's up to you :)

@Riff, I've tried a few cool/gray toned contours and they didn't do what the bronzer does. They made my face look ashen and unhealthy. The bronzer is best product I've found to contour :)

Thanks for the tips! Any brushes that are good for applying the powder?

My favorite is the e.l.f. Powder Brush! It's flat top design is perfect for contouring! And it's around $3 at places like Walgreens or online :)
