So I used to own a chi a few years ago, but after about 6 months it broke down. I've heard a lot of others complain about how short of a life the chi has. but I've been wanting to get another one since it leaves my hair so nice and sleek, but don't want to splurge on it if it's just going to last a year! do any of you have experiences with it lasting or breaking quickly?

Mine lasted 2-3 years & that was including getting it fixed all the time. After a year the switch had broken off, but I got it fixed. The paint started peeling off & then eventually one day it started smoking & stopped working. Kinda sucks cause I paid extra for a special limited edition one, but whatever. You can take your chances & buy one, but if it breaks one day then you know not to waste your money again.

Thats super weird I've never heard of that! I've had mine for 6 years now& its working just as well as it always has :) try to get a refund or exchange, 6 months is so short for how expensive they are!
