Yeah, the prices vary on location and artist. Generally artists set their own rules for pricing and it's usually based on how much time the piece takes. I would research reputable artists in your area and go to a few and ask them to guesstimate how much it would cost.

And I mean go in and have a consultation, not call. They need to see it, and it's better to show them beforehand so they know exactly what you want.

You'll have to call around. Some artists price by size, others by the hour, and still others by level of difficulty.

My girlfriend got something similar, and ended up paying $140 + tip. Since you are going to have it forever, do not cheap out! Choose your artist based on skill, reputation, and cleanliness, never by price. For a tattoo of that size the price difference between the best artist and the worst will not be that big, so I would definitely recommend going for the one you feel can provide the best service. Make sure you follow their care regimen, if you don't it can get infected (my girlfriend's did)... in that case see a DR or find some info online. http://aquaphorfortattoos.com/how-to-treat-an-infected-tattoo/ helped a bit but no substitute for real advice.
