I have a nape undercut and it's so nice, I definitely encourage you to do it (: my hair just feels lighter, my hair length is similar to yours at the moment and it's a lot easier to pull it up in a bun/ponytail and appear neat looking.

I've never put any designs like in the nape undercut pic you posted, however I've heard the upkeep for designs (not the undercut itself) is tough and it looks terrible even just a couple days after getting it cut.
