My cousin has naturally curly hair and she got one done I don't know if the stylist did it wrong or hair didn't take well because it was horribly damaged. she has a shaved head now lol but if your looking for something to permanently straighten it I'd look into Japanese straightening treatment or are you looking for something to ease frizz.

I wouldn't recommend getting one. I have relatively thick curly hair and it gets so damaged by using heat on it even only once with a heat protectant so protect your hair please!!

It's super damaging.

I've had a Keratin treatment twice from my stylist over the years. If memory serves it was a few years between the first treatment and the last one I had.
In both instances, it left my hair smooth and shiny...less frizz on my normally stick straight hair.
So I did NOT have curly hair and was trying to straighten it. I just want to be sure to relate that..as curly hair has different needs and issues that I am not familiar with in any way.

You need to take into consideration that excess protein in the hair can lead to extremely dry, brittle hair. On the other hand, for some, their hair may be lacking protein and the conditions are such that Keratin will instead rectify their hair issues and make their hair look amazingly sleek and feel strong again.

I'm not a stylist and so I can only speak from my personal experience over the years. I can EASILY see how it could be extremely damaging if not done correctly or if someone is just going overboard on protein treatments. Even using hair masks packed with Keratin at home can often be overused and lead to dry, damaged hair...so the condition your hair is in right now and the TYPE of hair you have should be looked at by a Professional Master Stylist at a reputable salon to see if you would either benefit from one, or it would indeed cause damage to your hair. In any event...proceed as you would as if you were considering introducing a new color or trying bleach....caution, caution, caution.

Lastly, we have some members here that use Keratin in their hair...Aurora, for example..and they use it themselves at home for a variety of reasons. We also have some professional stylists here in the forum that may have experience in straightening hair with Keratin. I hope some of those members chime in as they are much more familiar with the actual product than I am. This video shows how the treatment is done. I hope you find it helpful.  https://youtu.be/OgdI2x4qLXA

I had the Brazilian blow out about two months ago and I loved it. It is also a keratin treatment. I have wavy and frizzy hair naturally. My hair has never felt so soft and smooth until now. I would definitely do again when needed. Most keratin treatments won't make your hair straight if it is naturally curly but would probably relax the hair and make it soft and frizz free

It gave me a full head of split ends and the results last just a few months, not worth it in my opinion.

How do you like it? I know it may be hard to tell since the product is heavily coated and changes the feel of your hair, but are you happy so far?
