I am on the hunt for the perfect powder to set my under eye. I have used practically everything from Laura mercier to Ben bye. I have heard a few lovely ladies on here mention that they set their under eye with one of the hourglass powders. I was wondering which one you prefer and why. Thank you lovelies so much for your help ❤️❤️❤️

Ashli, long time no see!
Are you looking for a powder to brighten up your under eye or just to set your concealer?

Well I've been battling the darkness under my eyes for forever. I use a corrector (either the pixi peach corrector or the Bobbi brown one) the my Mac prolong wear concealer on top of that in NW25. I would like something with a brightening effect but I think I also want to try something that doesn't. When I use my Ben bye banana powder I find that sometimes it makes me eye circles appear ashy and maybe appear worse. I dunno I just want to perfect flawless under eye and I am determined to make it happen. I was checking out the hourglass palette that has three different shades??

I'm so glad to be back on @Sabrina!! You know sometimes how you can fall off the grid. Well I'm back with a slew of new questions for my gorgeous beautylish ladies

I often use Hourglass to set my concealer depending on my mood & where I'm going. I like Dim Light or Luminous Light. They both have luminosity. Dim has a low level of luminosity & Luminous is more of a medium level, which is as high as you want to go with the undereye area.

Gurl I missed you!! Glad to see you back!! For awhile I was using Dim Light to set my under eye area but then discovered Laura Mercier Undereye powder/brightner powder to set but now that I see your post I might go back to using what was my HG.

I just purchased the Laura mercier powder @Shelley and I think I might hate it :(. When I apply it I think it looks great but they as I apply the rest of my makeup I noticed little creases appearing directly below my lash line. What should I do?? It's so good to see you @Shelley your expertise is so appreciated you have no idea!!

Its good to have you back :) It's always great to see a beautiful face return :)

I unfortunately haven't tried hourglass but from Marleens comment it sounds amazing! As soon as I can get it in my country I'm definitely getting it!!
Another thing to look into could be the RMCA translucent power! It's of cause not going to give you that bright effect - but seriously for 10$ I say try it out!
I'm also going to try out 2 new product tomorrow - the It cosmetics bye bye pores (which is supposed to be amazing!) And the it cosmetics illuminazer which I heard is supposed to be so light and not shimmery that it can be used under the eyes - I'm a little sceptical about the under the eye thing but I'm going to try ;) So I can let you know if either of these products work :)

Ashli...I have to apply mine with a fan brush using the lightest hand to even get it in the brush because the stuff is so concentrated. I think that power is going to outlive me because so little is needed.

Ashli, I use Hourglass' Diffused light under the eye after concealer and it doesn't crease at all and moreover, leaves an amazing lit effect. It's beautiful!

I'm definitely going to have to try the Diffused light @Ealu!! And since the RCMA is so cheap I think I'm going to have to try it as well.

Oh and @Sabrina will you please let me know how you like the new items you will be test driving tomorrow??

Right now I'm using a Morphe Concealer Setting Brush M554. Before that, I was using my Senna Baby Face brush which I still use & love. I only apply the slightest amount of powder and never get creasing. Here are some pics & info on the Ambient powders. I have a medium skintone and prefer Dim & Luminous (using an extra light hand with the Luminous ) I think lighter skintones would fare better with Ethereal (pale) & Diffused (light). Radiant would look better on deeper skintones but has a lot of luminosity & would need a very light hand. I don't know how MOOD would look under the eyes and probably wouldnt even try it.

Hmmmmm so I'm thinking either Dim light or diffused light. Would you ladies perhaps have an opinion on which one would look better??

And thank all of you gorgeous creatures for your wonderful informative responses

@Sabrina K. Before the Ambient Powders came out, I used to mix a little loose highlighter powder into my Laura Mercier Brightening Powder. You have to be careful not to add too much so you don't look like a disco ball. And try to find a shimmer powder that is finely milled, like a satin finish eye shadow and not anything with sparkles or glitter in it. When adding the shimmer little by little, test it out on the back of your hand to make sure you don't see any obvious shimmer, you just want to give it a satin finish. Better to add too little than too much.

@Ashli R. I also have a medium skintone & found DIFFUSED light too light for me. It really is a pale yellow. Although, my medium skintone has a little bit of an olive undertone and lean towards a "golden" medium. In the IT COSMETICS CC CREAM, medium is too light & tan is too dark, so I mix the two. If that gives you any point of reference. The DIM light is more of a peachy beige and in my opinion has a slight luminosity whereas I don't remember the DIFFUSED light havi ng any luminosity, it was just brightening. Although I could be wrong because I'm basing this off memory since I didn't buy Diffused Lighting.

@Marleen I also fall somewhere in the middle of things. My skin tone is usually medium as I tan frequently. I'm going to pop into Sephora and check each powder out in person but at this point I'm definitely leaning towards diffused light. If the powders weren't so pricey I would give them all a go lol oh to be rich and spoil yourself with makeup.

Ashli R.

Oh man but now that I find myself pondering I want to try both diffused and dim light. And I meant that I was leaning more towards dim like not diffused. Sorry about that

Ashli R. A few more thoughts. As I said I don't think the DIFFUSED LIGHT has any luminosity, if I'm right about that, I personally wouldn't spend that kind of money on just a pale yellow powder. There are other brands that have pale yellow powders for less money. Like Bobbi Brown. DIM LIGHT on the other hand has a low level of luminosity but not too much because it's meant for all over your face. But if DIM LIGHT is too dark and you still want some luminosity, you might consider TOO-FACED CANDLELIGHT SOFTLY ILLUMINATING TRANSLUCENT POWDER. Not to be mistaken for their highlighter. The Candlelight translucent powder is made for all over the face also, and has luminosity too, but it's also a pale yellow.

@Marleen thank you so much for your knowledgable insights. I feel like I am constantly battling my under eye issue and lately I feel like my Ben Nye banana powder is looking far to yellow so I picked up the Laura mercier secret brightening powder and I don't know if maybe I need to play around with my applications technique or what but it ends up creasing really horribly under my eyes. uuuggghhhh I'm just so aggravated with it altogether. Seriously though @Marleen your responses mean so much
