I have used Tresemme Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray and it makes my hair very oily and greasy. I have very thick dark brown hair. I put the heat protectant in when my hairs dry right when I'm about to straighten it should I put it in when its damp instead. All recommendations are appreciated! :)

You should put in oils after. I have been hearing that lately and I see how that makes sense. Otherwise supposedly you're cooking or rather frying your hair.

At least according to some chicks on here.

I'd also say to put some on damp hair post shower, but not right before straightening.

No recommendations ; sorry. Haven't straightened my locks in forever.

Hot off the Press by Paul Mitchell is a great heat protectant and it isn't an oil, it is a working spray that you can use on dry hair.
