This summer has been brutal on my skin. Spending a lot of time outdoors around car exhaust in addition to humid temps has brought on various skin conditions. One of them being heat rash...only on my face. One episode had was so bad I was ashamed to even go outside. My face was covered with them! Another episode had my chin and forehead covered to the point that it hurt just to smile/laugh. Each time I healed and they disappeared I was left with really bad scarring on my chin area which is already my grief zone of hyperpigmentation so the scarring just made it worse.

Once they cleared up I went ahead and started in on erasing the scarring. For three nights straight I applied my ReVive Renewal Moisturizing Cream on cleansed and dry skin as it contains glycolic acid. For the next three nights I would use M-61 Skincare Power Peel and apply a super basic non active moisturizer.

Then the following evening I would reach for NUDE Skincare Progenius Milk which is an antioxidant cream and apply Rescue Oil last which contains a natural Retinol.

Daytime I'm all about using Josie Maran Nirvana Misting Spray after cleansing and while skin is still damp applying Josie Maran Argan Light Oil and then wait a few minutes before applying her Moisturizing SPF47 Lotion.

This has been my newest routine for the past month and a half and I absolutely love it because I've seen serious results with this rotation. I haven't reached for any of my essences or other serums in my stash. I have stuck with my usual toner from Thayers and my double cleanse method.

My skin has always been clear for the most part but I'm almost obsessive about maintaining a smooth skin texture. These products teamed up together have definitely exceeded my expectations. And the scarring...I wish I had thought about taking pics of my progress. The scars are almost gone and the hyperpigmentation on my chin has lightened up a bit. My enlarged pores also look non-existent in my t-zone. I'm scheduled to go in for my facial this weekend and I can't wait to hear what my esthetician has to say about my skin.

I think I might just stick this program indefinitely because the outcome has been awesome. What is in your skincare line-up that is HG and that you rarely stray from?

Sorry for the pic being sideways. The ReVive Mousturizing Renewal Cream is uber pricey so alternative dupe that is much more wallet friendly is Mario Badsecu AHA & Ceramide Mousturizer. That cream in particular may have gone under an ingredients change so I don't know where it stands on performance.

That's wonderful news! I'm so happy to hear your success! I'm going to be trying a new program soon with the harsh winter on the way. The surgery and recovery has been extremely rough on my skin, but I haven't had the $ to invest in something short-term with frigid weather approaching. I'm looking forward to reading everyone's posts to get some ideas for me!

Thank you Tina. I also forgot to note that the oils have definitely balanced my oily skin. I know a lot of beauties are often hesitant to apply oils on their skin for fear it will make them oiler but I've been a huge supporter of oils incorporated in skincare programs. I'm glad to hear that your surgery went smoothly. The aftercare is definitely a challenge so make sure you are taking care of yourself internally by getting in as much good stuff as you can (veggies of various colors and fruits) and adding milled flaxseed to any smoothies you consume as it contains Omega 3's an antioxidant that the body ultilizes in healing. ;)

Thank you for the information. You've given me a few ideas for my next skincare purchases as I'm not completely happy with my routine atm. I have a question you may be able to answer. I've been spraying my face at night with Mario Badescu rose water spray then the Josie Maran light oil then the CeraVe night cream. The problem I'm having is that this leaves out my retinol serum. Where could I fit that in? Before the oil maybe?

Tina what surgery did you have that is messing with your skin? My mom has cancer and her radiation, chemo etc. left her skin a wreck. She was lucky enough that her doctor prescribed her a lotion that's made for radiated skin but it works really well just in general for healing damaged skin and keeping it super moisturized. The best part of course is that most insurance will cover it if you dr will write the script. It's called miaderm. Hope that may be helpful:)

You're welcome Angela. Leave out the Argan oil and just apply the Retinol serum then the CeraVe Night Cream. You could also rotate the oil and Retinol serum use the serum for a few nights and then grab for the Argan oil on other days. If you go for applying before the oil be sure you allow a few minutes between each application of product before applying the next so you can allow the skin to absorb.

You are welcome Kathy.

Thank you Shelley. Maybe rotating every other night would be a good idea bc the retinol really makes my skin flaky. That's why I'm using the oil:)

Good post! I'll have to look into the Rescue Oil because an oil with retinol sounds great. I use Retin A twice a week but it's just too drying so I need something else. I was scared of oils too as my skin can be acne prone (thank god for spironolactone!), but they really are good and what is awesome is that they last forever! I got the Algenist Repairing Oil maybe 6 mos ago and it's not even a quarter gone after using it 2x a day, meanwhile I've had to buy new moisturizers and serums several times. You need so little that it really is a good investment. I use the M-61 peels too and really like them.

Yay Maggie!! I love those M-61 peels. Thank you for enjoying the post. So many beauties are afraid of using oils and for good reason (there are some that are just not worth it) but for me oils have given me nothing but awesome results.

Shelley & Angela, thank you for the advice. Angela, I'm sorry to hear about your mom and will add you both to my prayers. I had abdominal surgery to remove an ovarian mass that was the size of a football. Thankfully it was benign, but it has compressed my intestines, bowels, etc. So with anesthesia, medications, hormone fluctuations, the changing seasons, the huge and rapid weight loss, and my standard chronic migraines, my skin isn't happy. If I continue to be as exhausted as I am, I'm going to see about bloodwork to check for proper absorption. All of my previous labwork for everything else was great! But they don't usually test for vitamin deficiencies immediately.
