Every time I go to the nail salon and simply want a new set my nail tech rips off the nails by going under the fake nail and lifting. this is really painful to me soo how do you girls take them off?

That is not e right way of removing nails, any technician knows that, it is very damaging for nails too. You should remove them with acetone, put some acetone in a bowl and put your nails inside, wait for about ten minutes and start to remove the acrilics with an spatule until there is no more acrylic. After that use some oil on your clean nails. If you use a file over the acrylics before the acetone, it'll speed the process.

Yipes! I'm surprised they don't soak them in Acetone soaked cotton and wrap them in foils..which removes the polish and loosens the tip so that it is easily removed. Granted that isn't good for your nails, but if you use a Acrylics, it is common practice. I cannot remember which member suggested this, so forgive me for not giving well-deserved credit, but she recommended using dental floss to remove the tips gently...then oil my nails up to give the cuticle a break.

Oh, I see Sadiya also recommends oil afterward. Excellent advice.

My salon wraps the cotton balls in foils that sit on for about 20 minutes. I switched to liquid gel polish so now I have long nails that are my own without needing tips, but when I did tips, they would sit on my fingers for about half of my deluxe pedi...which is how I estimated 20 minutes.

If you soak instead of wrapping the process is faster (about ten minutes) until they turn gummy as Sarah said.
