So pretty recently I switched to using a sponge to apply my foundation rather than my fingers and found that it worked really well. Then I realized that my makeup would slide off throughout the day. I feel that dabbing my foundation onto my skin just layers it on my face and it doesn't really get into my skin. I don't use primer but I'm thinking about buying one to use to see if that would help. I have pretty dry skin and I have a lot of dry patches. Is there a better way to apply my foundation? Any tips?

I have super dry skin and I recommend using CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser and Moisturizing Lotion (or the Cream which is what I use because its thicker and my skin is super dry). Making sure you are prepping your skin first will help tremendously especially for us dry skinned girls.
As far as primers go L'Oreal Magic Lumi is awesome. If you are willing to spend more then Hourglass is easily my favorite. Bare Minerals Prime Time is also nice.
What foundation do you use? Application is important but making sure you have a good foundation for your skin type is key in getting a flawless natural look.

Mix any sort of hydrating/ luminizing primer with a foundation that works for dry skin. It will help keep your foundation on AND give you extra hydrated skin. I would use a foundation brush like Sigma flat top kabuki or Morphe 438 I believe :) it's easier to press it into the skin and blend with a brush.

Try applying some oil into your foundation. check out Jaclyn Hill's videos on YouTube. she has dry skin and has a lot of tips and product recommendations.

Nice tip Jacqueline! I never thought using your fingers can take away some of the moisture :0.
