I backcomb my hair and put a lot of hairspray in, I try using volume mousse in my hair but within about 20 minutes my hair becomes completely flat. Are there any tips for me to use??

Don't take biotin or any other pills without a blood test. Taking biotin or any pills without taking a blood test to see if your deficient is incredibly dangerous. If you're on even a semi healthy diet you're most likely getting enough biotin from your food or from a daily multivitamin. As someone who has overdosed on biotin when I was younger, please do not just go out and take pills. Just because they're sold in stores does not mean you should take them without consulting a doctor. Taking any vitamins, especially biotin can lead to very bad side effects that defeat the point of taking them fit nice hair like hair loss, hair dryness, nail weakness, skin issues like permanent breakouts, dehydration etc, not to mention the lethal ones like kidney failure, liver failure, heart palpitations and more. Read these threads for even more reasons why you should NOT take biotin or any other pills just because someone on the Internet said it's okay.

Aw for volume, blow dry your hair upside down, use a lightweight volume boosting mousse, if you curl your hair it will appear more voluminous. If you don't want curly hair all the time you can curl the top of the hair on your bottom layer and it will lift the rest of the hair. Use a volume powder, make sure you hairspray the teased sections.

What are you using? As far as what comb and products? If you look at my pictures you can tell I have a lot of volume and most of it is achieved by teasing but it makes a huge difference on how my hair is cut. I have shorter layers on the top and they are thinned out with a razor to get natural volume. Even when I don't tease my hair I still have tons of volume because of the way my hair is layered. Do not take Biotin! Alyx made it pretty clear in her comment of why you shouldn't unless your doctor tells you its ok.

This is how I get volume when teasing:
1) I wet (or wash; I usually wash everyday but everyone is different; wetting will still help vs washing at night) my hair before styling.

2) Blow dry my hair starting with top layers first by lifting them up straight and holding then flip my hair upside down and finish drying the rest.

3) Flat iron or curl my hair

4) Apply a hair oil to my ends and use an aerosol hairspray all over (Garnier Bamboo, Herbal Essences Volume, or Pantene Volume. Then I begin teasing my top layers. Tease - spray with hairspray on the teased part while its sticking up crazy like a faux hawk (with a pump hairspray; again I use Pantene or Herbal Essences Set Me Up). Tease some more while still wet from hairspray and then fix it by smoothing it out. And done.

As for any other products to help create volume, Rusk makes and awesome volumizing mousse. Best one I've used and believe me, I've used many! And Got2B makes a volumizing powder that is great but you only need a little tiny sprinkle because it gets waxy and will look really greasy and gross if you use too much! Also make sure you are using a volumizing shampoo and conditioner! I really like L'Oreal Ever- lines (the sulfate free) for volume. And Salma Hyaek makes a great one sold at CVS.
