Confusion about the Beauty section.

Hi beauties :)

So over the past few months the amount of misplaced threads have been increasing with the number of new users to this site – So I thought I would take a little time to let all the new users know (and remind the old users) what goes in which category!

(BEAUTY)
Discuss the newest and hottest trends in the beauty community. Ask experts and members general beauty related questions.

(MAKEUP)
Share your work and looks with others. Discuss your favorite products. Share tutorials for looks you've mastered!
(Remember to add content when posting you makeup looks! By content we mean listing all your products used in detail. And tell the users what kind of feedback you are looking for - Did you use new products? A new look? Is there something in the look you are unsure about?)

(HAIR)
Show off your newest hair cut, style, or color. Ask experts and members for tutorials on how to create certain styles.

(NAILS)
Everyone loves nail art! Show off your favorite polishes, colors, and designs.

(MAKEUP ARTIST & PRO's)
Network and talk with others in the industry in this area reserved for pros.

(STORAGE&ORGANIZATION)
Share organizing tips and learn how to streamline your beauty collection.

(STYLE)
Fashion and beauty go hand in hand. Ask experts and members for beauty recommendations to go with your outfit or share your complete look before a night out.

(INTROS&PROMOTION)
Introduce yourself and share your profile, YouTube channel, or blog.

The beauty category seems to be where the biggest problem is – It looks like there is a lot of confusion about what goes into this section, so here are some of the things what should be posted in the beauty section:

- Discussions about beauty-related articles (eg. the Beautylish editorials)
- Talks about perfume
- Questions about face shape and undertones
- Discussions about latest beauty trends

Look at the beauty section as a beauty chit chat about beauty trends!

Now to the things that we often see posted in beauty but don't belong there:

- All threads containing questions about style or clothing – these belong in the style section (This also includes all the Halloween costume threads)
- Questions about “all over” looks – meaning questions about hair, makeup and outfit – This also belongs in the style section as this is a question about the all-over style of a person.
- All piercings and tattoo questions also belong in the style section
- Questions about eyebrow shape, eyelashes/eyebrow growth and color belongs in the hair section
- And of course LOTDs belong in the style section and MOTDs belong in the makeup section!

We hope this will help everyone to understand especially the beauty section better :)

Just curious, where do you find the style section? Under my tab "talk" I'm not seeing this one or is it somewhere else?

The style section is just under talk - if you use an android phone it should be in the line at the top of the page. If you use an iPhone you need to press the 3 dots or lines at the top corner and then the categories will appear :) Hope this helps!

So this is how my top row (the category row) looks!
Top picture shows how it looks when I don't touch it, second picture shows how it looks when I "slide" over to the next row (here you can see the style section Tiffany) and last picture shows the last 2 categories when I slide the row to the end and here you find storage Sonja!

Now this is how it looks on an android phone. As I understand on an iPhone there is 3 lines or dots in the top right/left corner that you press to get the categories to show.

@Sonja On the computer, you would have to hover over the 'Community' link and click on 'talk', then you'd have to scroll down to find it at the bottom.

Hi Kitty, I understood that is supposed to be there. but for some reason I don't have it. I go to community, under talk I have beauty, makeup, hair, nails, skincare and makeup artists. that's it... I guess it isnt meant to be.

Okay Sonja, here's a screenshot of my computer when I click the "community" in the top bar, and then click on the "talk" headline!
As you can see I have cirkeled the the talk categories with red and there you see both the style and the storage category!
Now if your screen looks different from then this then you might be have to contact the help team because then I can't help you unfortunately!

@Sabrina K thanks this clears things up. So for example if a new product comes and we want to post about it does it go in beauty or makeup.

If it's like a new foundation and you just want information about it it would be in makeup but if it's like a new makeup trend - Like foundation drops and tallk about the use and the new technology then it would be in beauty :) Does that make sense :)
