The title pretty much says it all! It's almost October now (close enough) and my school's fall play is going to be Night of the Living Dead this year, so I thought I'd do something out of my comfort zone! As I'll hopefully be doing this on the cast of the show for performances, any critiques of tips would be wonderful.

You're so goddam talented! The shading is amazing, and the cut looks real!

Wow that looks amazing

I think it looks great! For the actual show, you may want to make everything deeper and darker so the stage lights don't wash it out.

You did really good but I also agree with kailey. Also I think you should darken the area under your eyes and in the crease

Peeling skin would also look cool.

Thank you everyone! I'll definitely make everything deeper, and peeling skin and flesh would be awesome! Thanks for the suggestions!

And Lillee - the cut was the easiest part! It's the bruising that's hard. Thank you!

Thank you Jacqueline, that was super informative! I will definitely be trying everything out!

I'm so glad you mentioned a tooth brush with fake blood; I never would have thought of that! I debated trying to spatter some on when I did this but decided that if I got fake blood all over the place my mom would kill me lol. I imagine using a toothbrush will be cleaner; my mom thanks you.

Also, that is so funny that you mentioned tooth paint because my dad and I had an in-depth convo about it last night and spent some time looking in a Graftobian catalogue for it. I'll definitely check out the Mehron!

If you have any product recommendations for those of us interested in venturing into more creative/FX/theatrical makeup, I'd love to hear them! The only reason I have what I have now is because my Dad's a Halloween nut and I raided his stash :)

Oh, and one last question, what brushes do you use when using FX paints? I used a sponge for most of this, but for veins and detail work, powder products (e.g. I used eyeshadow for the bruising on the wound) as well as applying the blood directly to the wound, I felt like a brush would be best and I obviously have no intention of ruining my nice/delicate ones. I used cheapo brushes for this, but if you have any brands that are made tougher/for FX products I'd love to hear it.

I will definitely look into everything suggested. Who needs food when you can buy makeup? ;) Thank you again Jacqueline!

I definitely will! I feel like a kid who learned there's another giant floor of the candy shop.

And as a side note: my Viseart's supposed to arrive tomorrow! I can't wait!

That means a lot coming from you! And I will definitely let you know about the Viseart! I just opened the package (I'm practically drooling), but I will let you know once I've played around with it a bit. It swatches beautifully! I'm planning on posting a review/swatches thread sometime later in the moth after I've had some time to work with it. :)
