I feel I have a large nose,
More on the wider side of the spectrum. And I've tried contouring and I'm not getting desired results. I would ideally like to do it daily, so something that isn't too obvious.
One problem is I have oily skin so excess products really make my skin cake up.

Work with a light hand, it is much easier to add product than take product away. To give the illusion of a thinner nose you would want to contour the sides, and usually the tip of the nose to keep a balance. I use a fluffy blending eyeshadow brush personally as I find that it's effective for precision and blending to avoid any muddiness. For a very subtle contour you can try a concealer two shades darker than your skin or a light contour powder. I actually find that the hoola bronzer by benefit is a great option especially if you are only contouring your nose and not the rest of your face as it won't look out of place.

Hmm well I like to use Cover Fx cream contour in conjunction to Marc Jacobs filtering powders- never has my skin gotten bunchy or oily! I agree with Brittany in the essence you should straight light with the powder however, I'm not pro hoola when it comes to my nose! The color turns red on me..
Anyway, you should contour the sides of your nose, place the lines as closely together, for as intense you want the contour ex: | | or, | |
Also it wouldn't hurt to dust some powder on the tip to, as she said balance everything out. For highlighting I like to draw a line only had way down my nose, then on the tip!

I would use a concealer that's darker and cool toned and then powder over it. I use the LA girl pro concealer first and then go over it with a contour shade from my KVD palette and then kind of fade it a little with my foundation brush
