Hi beauties!!
So I've been having a dilemma when applying liquid foundation lately. After applying moisturizer (Cetaphil cream) and primer (different ones), I apply my foundation and it's so streaky. I keep blending but it keeps moving and you keep seeing the streaks like it just won't blend and stay on my skin. And the bridge of my nose and under eyes get so patchy. I'm not using any new foundations or brushes. I honestly don't think it has anything to do with my makeup but my skin. I have been using my regular topical treatment for acne (started breaking out again). I also started using Ponds rich hydrating face cream at night... hope my explanation was clear to understand. Please help! My makeup looks horrible! Thanks!!

Hello! maybe you need a little exfoliating to get rid of the patchiness. A nice, gentle exfoliant might do the trick.

I'm not a professional. but to me it sounds like your moisturizer isn't sinking into your skin and all the layers are shifting when you're blending, leaving the streaking. that's just my 2 cents though.

Do you let your moisturizer and primer sink into your skin? Wait about 5-10 mins between each thing.

I experienced that with the Cetaphil cream and my water based foundation.
The Cetaphil has petrolatum which will really present the water in a foundation to blend in.
I would apply less moisturizer ad let it sink in. Then pay off any excess with a blotting paper before doing anything else

Thanks ladies!!
@Kim & @ Katrina. Thanks for your input :) and yes I let it sit for a few minutes. I mean I haven't changed anything... And before it never did this.

@Aurora. But I've been using Cetaphil for like a year and it never did it... But I'll definitely try what you said :) thanks!!

Yeah I was using it for awhile too and noticed it would so that.
Did you change your foundation?

I know with some foundations it works fine but with the MUFE HD or the L'Oreal True Match it's a mess and gets that issue

I think it has something to do with the topical acne treatment making your skin dry. My makeup never goes on as well when I use topical acne products, even after a ton of moisturizer. I've used the Cetaphil cream and I found it really does help this kind of dryness though. I'd see if you could put less acne treatment on and less frequently. You might try a different moisturizer just to see if it makes a difference.

It sounds like you may have some dead skin that your makeup is sitting atop of.
(Which would also prevent the moisturizer and primer from sinking in). Have you tried exfoliating? I usually exfoliate with salt, especially when I have a break out since it's anti-bacterial. Exfoliate in gentle, circular motions and see if that helps.

Thanks ladies!! All of you have been super helpful!
@Kitty do you use plain salt? I exfoliate with Kate Somerville intensive exfoliating treatment. But I think I'll try the salt. Thanks!

Yes, the finer the better in terms of being gentle. I usually apply my cleanser, take a bit of salt in my hands and massage in a circular motion. I hope it works out for you :)

Thanks! @kitty can I use white sugar instead and mix it with water to make a paste?

If you don't use a beauty blender you should look into that! ^.^

@Nelly. Yes I use the beauty blenders! I love it for setting my concealer! Thanks!
