Should I go light or dark?

If you have red dye I suggest to go dark because red can create strange colors if you try to do it yourself, if you think about going to a salon then I think there'll be no problem.

Sadiya is right red dye is unpredictable - even when its faded the hair often still have red pigments left which can turn green when you go lighter. So I would also go darker and I would choose a cool tone dark brown to cancel out the red pigments :)

Yes it is a nice option, I love red hair but since I realized how hard it is to make it disappear (basically you have to wait until your hair grows) I haven't dyed my hair that color. That color you chose is soooo beautiful, I think it will suit you perfectly
