Why does this happen to me?
Like as I apply it, it looks so patchy! There's spots where just no product is at all. No amount of blending fixes the patchiness, and it's so frustrating!
I've tried switching up foundations and my contour powder - still patchy :(

What are you using?

Hey! do you let the foundation sit for a few minutes before you start contouring?

Alma - My foundations I'm currently going between are the Revlon 'Nearly Naked' liquid foundation and the MAC Studio Fix Fluid. To contour - I have the Kat Von D 'shade & Light' palette, Nyx 'taupe blush,' and Nars Laguna (I know it's a little warm to contour with but I've had the thing for ages! Before I learned what I SHOULD contour with haha) Sorry I forgot to mention the products I'm using :)

Mai - I do not! I usually contour right after I set my face with powder. Tomorrow morning I'm definitely going to give it a few minutes before I go in with the contour brush :)

Thank you so much! ❤️💕

Jacqueline - probably a 7 to be honest lol :c I'm so bad at remembering to moisturize. Could that be the cause of my problems? That 100% would make sense, I am so dry 😭

I have a spot on my cheek that refuses to take blush. weirdest thing. I would think that yours is due to dryness though. if I forget to moisturize my make up applies very patchy and uneven.

Grace, do you let your foundation sit before setting it with powder? Letting it sit between the setting powder and the contour won't make a big difference, but letting it sit before you set it with powder will make a huge difference!
I don't know if I'm clear...

Apply foudation - Wait a few minutes - set it with powder - then contour and blush

Genevieve, that's exactly what I was going to say. :)

Perhaps you should exfoliate before then apply the products- what I like to use is creme contour rather powder I find it doesn't cling to the dry patches as much. Also, the studio fix did the exact thing to me! It also clogged all my pores!

Kelly - I just actually laughed lmao that is the most inconvenient thing! I also think it must be my lack of moisturizing :)

Genevieve - I usually do not! Thank you so much for the tip :) I usually go straight from foundation to powder...I'll do my brows in between from now on while I wait :) Thank you!

Jacqueline - Thank you SOOO much! So much new and helpful information! That moisturizer is in my cart right now, I need a new moisturizer and anything you suggest, I'll buy! I actually own the MAC Powder you are suggesting...I absolutely am going to pull it out of my drawer and use it :)
If I did end up switching to cream highlighting and contouring (I think I may already own the products I would need to do so) would I set the contour/highlight with a powder? Or not bother?
Also OMG thank you so much for telling me to steer clear of the Embryolisse! I have heard SOOO many good things about it, it was on my wish list lol. Never mind that!
Thank you so so much again!

Mai - Thank you :)

Lillee- Thank you! I think you're absolutely right, I don't exfoliate enough at all (maybe 2x a month when I remember). I also think I am going to look into cream contouring :) Thank you thank you!

Kathy - Right lol! No wonder my contour was patchy! I had no idea about any of this stuff

Oh that's my bad. I totally misread, I'm sorry! ❤️
Between the two, would you suggest the Edward Bess or the Embryolisse? :)
Thank you again!
I am 100% purchasing a moisturizer today...I can't deal with the patchy contour madness anymore lol
