I'm looking for a good drug store gel top coat that I can put over my regular nail polish to make it last as long as gel but I'm new to the whole gel nail polish thing so I don't know which is good.

Essie has one called the Gel Setter top coat. It doesn't need a light and you can us.

Oops hit post too soon on accident, lol
Meant to say you can use any regular polish underneath it and it is supposed to give you a gel like shine and extended wear time without chips. I haven't personally tried it but have read a lot of positive reviews on it. I think it is around $10 (US) but I saw a deal at Target for where it came with the top coat and a regular Essie color for $15.

Julie that is so sad to hear, I was actually thinking of buying it tonight since I'm going to Target in a little bit. Thanks for saving me some money, lol.
Have you tried the one by Essence by chance? I know they are a cheaper brand, but I actually really like how opaque their nail colors are and have been wondering about their gel top coat.

There's the Gelous Gel Top Coat.
It's available at Sally's beauty supply.
I've heard of people using it as a base and then sandwiching the Gelous with regular nail polish a couple of times.
I've used it as didn't have an issue. My manicure lasted about a week and a half

Thank you!! I have one Sally Hansen gel nail polish and I loved how long it lasted so if the top coat are like the regular gel polishes I want to try it if I don't like it I can always return right.
