Miss Jacqueline has really great tips for this so hopefully she responds - but first you need to figure out your undertones - so look at the veins under your wrist - if they appear blue then you are cool or pink toned if they appear green then you are warm or yellow toned - if they appear both blue/green then you are neutral - after that you need to figure out where you lie in the light to dark spectrum - it will vary depending on what brand of products you buy - but you have to just look at your skin and think is it more light, medium, tan, or dark? Then try to pick colors with your undertone and spectrum then test it on your neck to see if it matches your skin - if you notice the color appears on the yellow side then you probably need to pick something with more of a pink undertone - and vice versa - a good place to start if you are unsure of your skin tone is a neutral shade in the medium spectrum (most people lie in this area) and then go from there - see if it's too dark/light and/or if it appears too yellow or pink or if the tone is ok - that should also help you determine what's best.

Should concealer be darker or lighter to our foundation?

Well the foundation should be skin tone, as well as the concealer HOWEVER, to highlight you can select a lighter shade and apply it to the under eye area just make sure as Diana said the undertone is correct! If you do have green veins I suspect you're golden, or have yellow tones to you! To test the colors its best to swatch them on the side of your jaw line (more towards neck since this area is truest to your skin shade) and blend the color out. I'd suggest stopping by your local Sephora as they have a Skin IQ which makes everything easier! As compact powder goes it depends on your skin texture! I use Bobbi Browns Skin Weightless Powder Foundation and lean combination to oily. However, this compact powder clings to dry patches so it might not always be the ideal choice to use a compact powder!

There are 3 spots to test foundations. Eugenia Weston (Senna cosmetics creator) demonstrates this method in one of her videos.

For concealer, there are so many routes to go. Many buy a concealer lighter than their actual skin tone. I would recommend buying one that is the closest to your complexion because it will be easier for you blend and it wouldn't so noticeable.

And compact powder, in my opinion, just adds extra coverage and may sometimes change the color of your base foundation.

What I've learned so far to do is apply foundation before I apply concealer because sometimes the foundation alone is able to hide minor flaws you might see. If there's an area on the face that may need a lil extra coverage I would then spot conceal.

Also color correcting prior to foundation helps a lot. Like me for example, I sometimes color correct my mustache when I do a full face because I don't like the green shadow that peeks through my foundation although you can still see the stubble.

Thank you so much Diego.. you are great help... I have acne spots around my cheeks n forehead..the one around cheeks hide with just foundation but one on my forehead are darker and more brownier. can you suggest how to color correct that and also I dnt have corrector. loll,

I would color correct those problem areas with a peach/salmon concealer. Just dab a small amount of the product on to the dark spots before foundation. When you're ready to apply foundation make sure to stipple/ or tap your foundation brush or sponge over the area you've corrected or else you'll move the product. Nyx has a color correcting and concealer quad that comes in light and deep (2seperate palettes that have 6 colors each) and one correcting palettes that has 6 colors as well that is strictly intended for correcting purposes. I like them but have heard others complain about them. Also makeup for ever has great concealer palettes.
