So I got my belly button pierced about a month ago and it's still red and sometimes gets crusty? Should I be worried? Is it infected? And when can I start changing the bellybutton rings?

It seems to be infected you should get it checked out.

Is the crust green? if it's yellow I wouldnt worry about it too much, but it might be a good idea to get it checked out. sometimes it will take up to a year to fully heal.

Yes belly rings take forever to heal. Really. It is normal for them to crust for a while, it's the color/ smell you should be worried about. Continue to clean it three times a day with sea salt and water and it shoul help dry it out. If it is infected it MOST LIKELY will be: unusually swollen, unusually tender, itchy, warm to the touch, oozing odd colors or blood, committing unpleasant smells. If it feels like its NEVER healing and its always crusty and red that could be a symptom of a jewelry allergy. Try switching to a plastic one for a few weeks and see if it heals. If you decide to wear a plastic one continuously however, you have to take it out and fully clean it as plastic harbors bacteria more easily than metal. If you have a jewelry allergy it doesn't mean you can't wear the metal ones, just certain ones. I have a metal allergy and I only have a handful that bother my naval. Every time I put one in that does bug it it goes from being healed to being red and crusty. If a blood blister (red black or purple bubble) appears near either of your holes or could be a sign of infection or rejection. Rejection is another reason piercings sometimes don't want to heal. As far as I know there isn't much you can do about that. this is what mine looked like infected. WARNING:

infected belly ring. ignore the pj's

@devan, mine doesn't small or has green liquid comming out, sometimes it's like white but rarely. I clean it a lot but still gets kinda crusty. But maybe I am just allergic to metal, I'll try and switch to see if it's better!! An has yours healed?!

Yes. mine recovered completely from the infection. and a little white crust is perfectly normal until it heals.
