First the bad news, the size of our pores are genetically determined. The good news, we can help them from looking their worst. All we need to do is keep them clean. First step is to come to terms with the fact there is no instant fix. Second is to wash gently. A scrub is necessary, but only a gentle one, and very fine, think baking soda. A scrub should only be done once to twice a week maximum depending on the condition of your skin. Facial wash should not be stripping either. Next is toner to resore the ph balance. Then a moiturizer that doesn't dry you out, but contains something like bha. In time as pores become cleaner they will be less noticeable. And for heaven's sake you kids out there reading this, don't pick zits, the pressure pushes bacteria further down into the skin, that is what causes scarring.
There are primers containing silicones to fill in gaps, most notably benefit's porefessional which has rave reviews. I personally used it but started breaking out after three weeks of straight use. It should be noncomedogenic but everyone is different. Primers like this work by being gently patted onto the skin and left to set. I have found Lise Watier base lift eclat to do a decent, but not flawless job, under foundation.
