I often hear about using coconut oil on hair/skin/nails but I am allergic to coconut so what are some good alternatives besides olive oil (which is a little too heavy for my taste)

Almond or grapeseed oil might work, but those are more expensive. I mix cheaper olive oil with more expensive oils.

Your hair is dead, so any oil over wet hair will trap in moisture and do the job quite well regardless of nutrition! I use Africa's Best Herbal Oil because it smells fantastic.

Hmmm... I would say use Argan Oil as far as damage goes. I don't know about the skin and nail aspect of it, but argan oil actually gives me more hair benefits than the coconut oil!
I use argan oil every time I wash my hair (put on wet hair 2-3 x per week)
I use coconut oil 1-2 times per week
I think as long as you use a regular treatment of ANY KIND, you will reap benefits!
