how to: copper hair. advice please o_O

I really need any help I can get here.. I ordered SKR hair extensions in chestnut and I'm trying to dye them copper at home. these are strand tests that I've already done that havent turned out quite right. 10 volume with Loreal MR2, that was too dark and more auburn. 20 volume with a shade called dark copper blonde and that wasnt intense enough. I tried clairol kaleidoscope lightener with gold toner and its more of a blonde. I'm going for Ashlee Simpson copper. Can anyone please tell me where to go from here? Should I lighten and then use a demi, semi or permanent?? help please
