How Can I Wear My Hair To School?

I have short African American Hair and in progress of growing it out :). An I've tried SOO many different styles and have just been unsuccessful and I tried to make it wavy by either twisting it or braiding it by trying to add volume to my hair but It didn't work :( and so now I have nooo clue on what else to try with my hair that doesn't involve heat or weave. So do you have any ideas maybe??? Cause I get tire of Doin my hair the same way everyday
