I realized this facepaint for a contest on YouTube based on Angels and Demons... Oni are not really like demons (more like ogre) but I decide to do an inspired facepaint on this folkloristic japanese character anyway because of they're double nature... in the beginning the were considered good spirits that sometimes help people, but more recently they transformed into evil creatures that caused disasters, diseases, and other unpleasant things. To me, this transition reminds of the story of the fallen angels...good first and bad at the end. So maybe the concept it's not too far. www.pureblacklove.com

This is a look I put together for a day recording in the studio with Nanu Nanu. Not quite as dramatic as out gig make-up, but I thought some bright gold and reds would be good for the strong energy we put out in the studio! I first applied a base of goldish shimmers on the lid and marked out a cat eye shape with some vaseline jelly where I wanted the stars. I applied the loose glitter stars on top of the vaseline layer (you can also use eyelash glue for this if you want a stringer hold, but I didn't have time for that on this occasion) After the stars were on in my lid in a shape I was happy with, I drew an outline using my Gosh Extreme Art Liner in Red to add a bit of heat :) www.nanunanuband.com

"I was inspired by both Tim Burton's gothic nature in his films as well as the roses on my model's dress. I translated Tim Burton's quirky and iconic tree illustration along the cheek and onto the forehead freehand using Black Chroma Color. When I was in China, I took calligraphy courses to help with penmanship. I used the same black on the eyes and Pink Chroma Color for the eyelid and lip base."
