Beauty Product Reviews

Love it

I was hearing a lot of good reviews on the Pro Lumiere foundation but I wasn't quick enough to pick it up. The guy at the counter told me that Perfection Lumiere was the replacement. I bought it right as soon as it launched. The only blunder was that the girl matching me up was a little lazy. She gave me 34 Beige Ambre which looked good at the store. I loved how it looked in the morning but later on I realized that it oxidized and that it wasn't even my match. It was about a shade and a half too dark (if there is such a thing). Aside from this, she pumped way too much product into her hands and unscrewed the cap of the demo bottle and scraped it off her hand back into the bottle! Talk about unsanitary. Anyway, I canvassed different counters searching for my perfect match and taking home different samples. I finally exchanged my darker one for a 40 Beige which is a perfect match. I wear an NC35 in studio fix and #128 in MUFE HD, so go figure if you are familiar. I absolutely love how this looks. It wears nicely throughout the day and having oily skin, I have the predisposition to always set my liquids with powder but with this I really don't have to. I love how it smells (super clean and crisp scent I wish they had a perfume that smelled like that!). The only thing aside from the price is that you have to blend in small areas otherwise it will dry fast. I don't mind that at all and the best application is with your fingers. One pump is all you need!

I have Daphne because I am addicted to purple but it wasn't cutting it for me. It was the perfect shade of purple but it was chalky and you had to apply 2 layers to get the true color. It was also hard to blend. You need to put a purple base underneath to make it happen.

omg holy grail

i have very oily lids and i live in Southern California so the odds of me having long lasting eyeshadow are already at risk because of those factors. i received this as sample a while back and remember first using it when i went to IMATS 2010 (which is in June-summertime!). I did a brown smokey eye at 6:30 am, had dinner at 8 pm and still had my eyeshadow on perfectly. No fading, no creasing. Since then I have never gone without it, I always keep a back-up stocked up just in case i am unable to run to the mall. I have tried UDPP, paints/paint pots/shadesticks but none of them sustained. This is a miracle product!

greasy creasy

I am trying out the BB under eye corrector and creamy concealer kit. The girl at the counter tried to include this product in my purchase but I wasn't interested. She recommended I try it anyway and gave me a sample of this in which she claims is a one month supply. The suggested usage is to apply this before the concealers, not only is it an eye cream but it is a primer too. The consistency is rich but light. Very hydrating indeed, but they should not market it as a base because it causes creasing. This would probably do well as a night time thing--not under makeup.

a little dry

i owned youngblood mineral hd powder before i purchased this. my mom took my youngblood because the product is truly awesome. i had to get an hd powder right away and purchased the small jar. it's a little dry. i used it on clients and they too have been commenting that it makes their skin feel dry, i have to spray with skindanavia to make it a little more hydrating. overall though, it is just silica that is finely milled. the way that it comes out on camera is awesome. be careful of photos with flash though, this product tends to show up where you've applied it making it not so invisible after all. a little goes a long way.

good deal

i have this palette and i often forget that i own it. i love the variety of colors and finishes. it has good pigmentation but some are a little bit chalky. not too bad though because they can be blended out easily. if you want that glowy msf look i suggest using a duo fiber flat top brush like mac 130 to blend.

oh so safe

i got this as a gift last christmas. i use it a lot but there are some colors i don't care for. i use smog, chopper and sin the most. i don't care much for last call or grifter. if this is a representation of what urban decay is, then it is a really poor one. i find that it is too muted and safe. even with shattered and last call being the only real bold colors they are not so interesting, the palette as a whole is comprised of basics with some muted colors. it's just too safe and boring for what i think UD stands for. the pigmentation and payoff though is awesome.

it smells funny

i have the regular black one with purple shimmer and i use it as a base or liner. i also have the ones from the dsquared collection and they smell stale like crayons. this product needs to be blended right away because thick application will lead to creasing. i prefer paint pots and mufe aqua creams. not so fond of these. never buying them again.

boo

this is way too sticky and thick. the product dribbles all over the tube if you accidentally squeeze. if you own this product please make sure it is shut tight otherwise you will have sticky goo all over your tube. yuck. oddly enough i feel that this product should be more moisture less sticky if that makes sense. it does not feel good on my lips at all.

luxury

i personally own 83 illusoire which is a mauve/purple/taupe color. I have worn this with just mac's cork and tete a tint in the crease and got so many compliments. i also wear it with some black tied and carbon and it looks like a million bucks! i don't care for the brush that comes with it. it makes the product ball up and i end up wasting product rather than getting it on my eye. i use a spatula or a small concealer brush to get product out, i also apply with a shader or concealer brush, fingers work well too. i blend with mac 217 if needed. i recently just purchased 85 mirifique thinking that i could make an excellent new years look but it seemed trickier to work with because it is a dark color. i wanted to return it but now i am having second thoughts. i could probably use it as a base for sugarpill's stella loose shadow.

i have worn this shadow all day long, a little goes a long way and if you have oily lids like me, i would put an eyeshadow base. i use nars eyeshadow base and it works really well.
