My first UD palette!!
This was the first Urban Decay palette I ever got and what really got me into the brand. I still use it too!! I love all of the colors, even though there is some fallout from the glitter in some. I don't mind when I get glitter on my face because I enjoy glitter :) But the colors are very pigmented even with it being the old formula. I still reach for this palette a good bit. The little brush that came with it isn't the best brush ever, but I find it comes in handy a lot. I wish I could get a few more to be honest. I use it for putting color into the crease. The packaging hasn't really held up over the years even though the word "sustainable" is in the name. But it's not such a big problem that it keeps me from using it. I've had it so long that I really wouldn't expect much less after all the years.
Overall it's still one of my favorite palettes and its perfect for anyone looking to try some of Urban Decay's eyeshadows.
Like wearing Fairy Dust!
I got this Urban Decay Eye shadow Palette for Christmas and I don't know why it has taken me so long to review this item. This my second Urban Decay product I have, the other being the NYC eye shadow palette, which I also love! I really like Urban decay products, because firstly I love the fact that they don't test on animals, also because the quality of the products.
I find that with the use of the Urban Decay primer, these eye shadows do really last for ages. This is because of the quality of the eye shadows and I have found that with these eye shadows, they are very durable and they do not wear off easily.
Like all Urban Decay Eye shadows, the product themselves are easy to apply to the eye-lid. The products is easy to blend into the eye-lid and the eye-shadow is of good quality, so that you don't need a lot of the product for good coverage.
"Gorgeous AND eco-friendly! Ten dynamic Eyeshadows, a cruelty-free Eyeshadow brush, AND a travel size bottle of Eyeshadow Primer Potion."
The outside of this palette has a wooden lid which, it states on the back, is made from Bamboo. The lib has a lovely design on it which has swirls, butterflies and also in black writing it says Urban Decay under the design.
The lid then swivels around to open up the palette to reveal the eye shadows. Inside the palette there is a small rectangular mirror, which is very handy if you are taking this palette travelling! The is also a small eye shadow brush, which I fins great for precision application of the eye shadows.
Midnight Cowboy Rides Again
I really liked all of the colours, but there are a few that are may 'be a little different, so I wouldn't particularly use them quite that often. Flipside is a green colour and although it is a lovely vibrant colour, I personally wouldn't use this colour on my eyes.
The other colours in the palette I have used and some are very much worn down because of using them frequently. My favourites in this palette are 'Midnight Cowboy Rides Again' and 'Twice Baked'. They are both colours that I wear together and are the types of shades that I would often wear.
Each of these shades have a glittery tint in them. I really like this fact and the glittery tint makes the shades lovely and pretty when you apply then to you eye-lid. You can see the glitter much more in some of the shades than others, such a UZI (white) and Oil Slick (black). The glittery can at times be a little messy, but if used carefully, this is not a big problem! I really love have a sparkly glittery shade on my eyes, and with this product it is like wearing fairy dust!!
Along with the eye shadow palette you also get a small, travel size tube of eye primer. I love this eye primer and swear by it! I use this eye primer everyday and I also have a bigger size tube of this product. I find that my eye shadow stays on 10 times longer when I use this eye primer.
I know that Urban Decay products can be on the expensive side, but I really do believe that they are worth spending the money on. When buying any Urban Decay product, you are really buying quality that it hard to fault. I usually receive Urban Decays products at Christmas, for the simple fact that they are a little expensive for me to buy myself, so my friends and family just buy me them instead.
I would definitely recommend this product looking for a great quality, long lasting eye shadow palette. And there are plenty of different shades with this product so there is something to suit everyone!
You can purchase this palette from Debenhams for £22.50 which is actually in Sale right now, down from £27.00. Here is the link, so you can have a look for yourself....
Not my fave
I bought this palette to pop my urban decay cherry and it was the cheapest palette Sephora had at the time. The only color I ever use in Half Baked. Even though it has become one of my favorite colors of all time, I don't like the glitter shadows which get all over the place and the lid comes off very easily. I lost it a long time ago lol and I didnt think the sample of the primer potion did the product any justice.. its so small and hardly any product as well
Not My favorite from Urban Decay!
So I was at ULTA a few weeks ago and on a whim decided to buy this palatte. I had never read any reviews on it and it wasn’t on my WANT list but I saw it and grabbed it and hoped I would love it as much as my Urban Decay AMMO shadow box. The cost was $ 36.00. I listed the colors in the palatte and my opinion of them below:
YDK – Love, a very nice blendable bronzy neutral
Flipside – Love, a great pop of turquoise
Grifter – Like, a pretty lilac
URI – No color pay off, too glittery, should be white but looks like nothing by the time you blend it
Twice Baked- Love, a rich chocolate brown
Midnight Cowboy Rides Again- Too glittery, but swatches a neutral pinky beige
Flash- Like, bright purple
Oil Slick- Like, glittery black
Kiddie Pool- Too glittery, sky blue but very hard to blend because of the glitter
Half Baked- Love, a rich coppery orangey color
The swatches start with YDK and go in order across the top, ending with half baked on the bottom
I know the packaging is supposed to be eco-friendly but I don’t like it. The lid flops all over the place so its not good for traveling.
My favorite colors to use are YDK and Half-Baked for a neutral look and if I want to add a pop to the look I’ll take flip-side and use it as a liner under my bottom lashes.
Oil Slick is also in my AMMO palette and I feel like it has better pigmentation in that one.
While I do like some of the shades that came with this I don’t feel like this was a very good buy. I rarely reach for it and have had a better experience with other sets by UD. Save your money and buy the AMMO or NAKED palette instead :)
Absolutely great. In addition to the Ammo palette, this is also my fav because it has Adam Lambert colours as well. It's great for nights out. Shimmery and bold brings attention to the eyes.
The shadows are fantastic and the case is pretty cool, too. I don't really like how it opens but other than that, it's awesome. Some shadows do have chunky glitter, but I plan on getting Too Faced Shadow Insurance Glitter Glue for those. I'm sure once I have that, I'll love this palette even more! :D
I love the colours in this set! It is so versitile for a set with only 8 colours. I can use the black as a liner with the sparkly gold on top, or use the blue and turquoise to do an underwater beachy theme. I would definitely buy it again.
Some very nice, very pigmented shadows in this palette, which is overall very nice. Mostly, they are really pigmented, intense, non chalky shadows. I was disappointed with Uzi though, it seems to be all glitter without any actual pigmentation, but all the other shadows are lovely. As usual with UD shadows, there is a bit of an issue with fallout. The packaging is pretty, however not very practical, it makes opening and closing difficult and isn't very sturdy.
Overall, I do like this palette very much, despite those problems ^.^
I only have a few high-end eye shadows, so when I got this for Christmas, I was very, very excited. I really love the high pigmentation in all the shadows. The only problem is the glitter fallout and the odd case. Other than that, I'm a very happy girl. =D
Beautiful colors, but the packaging needs some work.
I bought this palette and I absolutely loved the colors, but I was disappointed by the packaging. It started falling apart within 2 weeks of purchase, and I barely handled it. I finally just ended up depotting the shadows because I was irritated with the packaging.
