Real Techniques brushes are very hyped up makeup brushes because Sam from pixiwoo is the creator of these. They're very affordable (from six dollars to eighteen dollars for sets) and can be purchased from Ulta and I believe Amazon as well.
I went to Ulta (forty minutes away) yesterday and purchased two brushes: face expert (orange) and setting (pink). The Expert Face brush is for blending cream and liquid foundation. The Setting brush is good for applying powder or highlight on certain areas of the face. I've been using Expert Face for tinted moisturizer all over and Setting to apply powder underneath the eyes where I like to set concealer.
I'm completely used to applying my tinted moisturizer with my fingers. I've used brushes before and I didn't like the way they left streaks all over my face so I just felt like brushes were useless. I also wasn't keen on the idea of washing the brushes after every use (because built up liquid product is not pretty, obviously). But I'm a fan of the pixiwoo sisters (more Nic than Sam, heh) so I wanted to support. I always see these brushes being used and I wanted to try the new ones out. Plus, I already own the purple handle eyeshadow brush and I love it, so why not get more? Ulta also had a BOGO50% sale. I just wanted to see if a Face Expert brush really made any difference.
Does it make a difference appearance wise? I'm not very sure. It is fun to use. Just swirling it around on my face is fun. It's so soft so it's nice. It does leave streaks so I have to use my fingers in the end to wipe those marks away. It has made a difference in a different department: feel. When I apply theBalm BalmShelter TM on my face with my fingers, it does feel a little TM-heavy. It's nothing major, but it's there. When I use the Face Expert brush, I can hardly feel the TM on my face at all.
This brush does shed a little bit. As I was doing my makeup, I noticed I had brush hairs on my face at least three times. Since the hairs were fairly easy to remove, I did not rage at all (lol), but it's not something I'd like to keep doing every time I do my makeup.
Overall, I like the brush. I will continue using it for my face makeup.
This is a necessity!
There is no proper way to describe this brush without it being an understatement. Like the rest of the Real Techniques brushes, the bristles are incredibly soft. The size is perfect for getting to those hard to reach spots when applying foundation. Regardless of what foundation you use, you'll still look absolutely flawless if you apply it with this brush. I seriously recommend this brush for every and anyone!
LOVE this brush!
I saw this online and really wanted it after reading so many good reviews and knowing the good quality of real techniques brushes. I can say that I thought this brush would be a little bigger than it was, but Its a pretty good size and it makes putting foundation on soooo easy, litterally takes seconds. I use this brush for foundation, powder, blush/bronzer- I really must buy more than just the one I have because it's so amazing, andddd it was 8.99 at ulta so it was a steal (in my opinion) too! Another thing is the quality of these brushes, there is NO shedding, they're so soft, and the brushes are soo dense and great for applying proudct quickly and efficently- as well as the flawless finish it will leave on your face, and when I say flawless, I mean it it leaves my skin freaking perfect! I'm so happy with it, I'm going to buy more of this one and the rest of the collection, I like these brushes over so many other brands- and in my opinion these are the same quality as high end brushes from sephora. This is a must have in your makeup bag!
I was kinda hesitant when i saw the brush, because of the size. It seems too small, but after I used it, the size was no longer a concern.
The bristles are so soft, firm, and it holds its shape even after all that circular motion buffing!
I haven't washed it yet so we'll see how it holds.
Definately my favority foundation applicator, more than the usual foundation brushes. (Won't be using those anymore!)
One thing I might add is that, because the brush is so dense it has a tendency to absorb the product. So I use a little more of the product than I would normally. But overall the finish is awesome!
Im seriously in love with this brush. I was so anxiouse to get it since reading and watching reviews on it but its also super cute! My foundation blends into my skin so much better now that I'm actually excited to use it haha. Its also affordable whish is a big plus!
AMAZING and affordable
This is one of my favorite foundation brush : if you want a full coverage you can really build the intensity , you can use it with liquid or cream . This brush is really dense and allow you to buff and blend the foundation into the skin . I also love it for cream highlighter , moisturizer , ...
First, I love Samantha Chapman! The only reason I decided to buy this brush was because I saw her using it in one of her youtube videos. I love how soft and gentle this brush feels while I am applying my foundation. The price is amazing!!!! Bought from Ulta.com at a beautiful $8. I have her other brushes as well. You cannot go wrong!
I keep buying this brush!
I love it! This brush can be used for so many different applications! I love it to apply my B.B. cream. Something about the shape and softness of the bristles gives me a perfect finish every time. I makes applying foundations a breeze around the eye and nose area.
I have also been using this brush to apply my contour colors and creme blushes. It feels very natural in my hands and I love how it spreads my products evenly.
You can't beat the price (approx. $8.00) and this brush has lasted through a year of 3-day a week washings.
Best brush for cream foundation.
After lots of research, and my own desperation at trying to find a good finish, I decided it was worth a shot to try this brush. It was only nine dollars on Amazon. I was skeptical that it could do the job, since I'd tried various applications over the years, and noting did the trick. But, using it the first time I was very impressed. It smooths the foundation over your face, doesn't leave streaks, covers pores, and gives your face the perfect satin finish. But, I wasn't quite convinced yet: would I have to clean the brush after each and every use to get the right finish? It turns out, unlike some other styles/brands of brushes, this one keeps its integrity of finish through multiple uses. Of course, I do try to clean all my brushes after a week of use, but you could probably go longer with this one.
This is my go-to brush for foundation, and I love it. I would definitely buy this again.
This is my absolute go to foundation brush. It applies it so well and it always leaves me with an airbrushed finish. This brush is so soft and is not harsh on your skin, which is absolutely perfect. I totally recommend it.
