I was shocked at how much I loved these lipsticks. I would definitely repurchase them. They aren't extremely drying and they have a nice finish, plus they are only a dollar! But they are SOOOOOO friggin' hard to open! (I mean to get the plastic protection wrap off of the product) Like ridiculously difficult. I just gave the lipsticks to my boyfriend and told him to open them lol
Budget friendly lipstick
I was surprised how moist this lipstick was. Definitely has one of the best red lip colors for my complexion that I have found so far. And for .99 cents who can complain about it hurting their budget! I will recommend you use lip balm first so you don't get chap lips after all it not high end quality.
I really liked this product.. Its a great wearing type lipstick and it is really cheap... Who doesn't love cheap makeup then you can buy a few colors for the same price of 1 higher priced lipstick.. I love the colors they are bright and brilliant I think everyone should try some.. Just because its cheap doesn't mean the makeup is cheap quality
NYC (New York Color) is a good quality $1 Lipstick. I picked two of these up from Rite Aid for .99 each. To be honest I didn't expect much, as I was never really a fan of NYC's products. I was very pleasantly surprised when I wore one of these to the neighborhood carnival, and I got 5 hours of wear without fading, even through eating, drinking, and being out in the heat. I kinda couldn't believe it.
The packaging for these is the classic bullet tube. The tube is black, the cap is clear.
Pigmentation of these is really good. I get full coverage in one swipe. Both shades I have (Retro Red and Violet Shine) have a matte finish and live up to the name of "Ultra Moist". The lipsticks are very creamy and make my lips feel soft and moisturized. I recommend wearing them with a lip line, their creamy consistency gives them a little slip. I also tend to wear these without a lip gloss, as they get too slick otherwise.
Aside from being a little slippy, the only other problem I have with the range is the limited color selection. I'm not sure how many colors are offered (I'd estimate around 14ish), but I'd like to see a wider variety of colors.
Overall I like these lipsticks. I'll almost definitely try more. They're a good quality, wear well, and are a great value at only $1.
Good for the price.
I only have 4 of these which I bought on the same day. I bought them for only $0.93! That's a bargain. They are not the best, of course, but they are good. I found them to be very pigmented. They are not "ultra" moisturizing but they didn't try out my lips either. The smell is waxy. Ugh. The worst part is the packaging, though. I will agree with all the other reviews on that one. I hate that the lipstick doesn't go all the way inside the tube. That would make it so much better. I hate nicking my lipstick every time I go to remove or put the cap back on. Other than that, for less than a dollar, I can't complain. I would probably get some more. You can check out the swatches on my lips for the shades: Cafe, Sheer Red, Blossom, and Violet Shine on my blog.
Poor Packaging ...
I have aquired a few of these over the past couple of months because they are only $1 ! I like the colors , I wish they had more matte colors in the stores I shop at . Overall it is not bad for the money , however , the packaging is a big turn off . Every single one I have bought is broken or damaged :( As far as "Ultra Moist " , it doesn't live up to the name ,but it is nothing that a little balm under or gloss over can't fix . I will buy these again .
Packaging and smell is a problem
I always was a clutz, and it doesnt help with this packaging! It doesnt help support the hold of the lipstick itself, and the cover always nicks my lipstick when i ope and close the lid to use it. the smell reminds me of my grandma, enough said. they act as if its a stained lipcolor but it doesnt moisturize my lips at all, even with a lipbalm underneath it.
I have quite a few of these I have accumulated over the years and they are actually really nicely pigemented but a bit waxy. But I have retro red and I am always amazed at how well it stays on my lips! It ALMOST stains but is easy to wipe away when you need to. So all in all, not so bad. Especially for the price.
Needs better packaging
I have this product in Retro Red and it is a bit hard to apply on the lips HOWEVER I got around this with a lip brush. BUT the only damper on this product getting much love it the packaging because when you twist the product down there is still some lipstick sticking out and the cap goes around the lipstick, like in the image above. However if you're like me and randomly find your cap missing from you lipstick in your purse, get ready to find lipstick on EVERYTHING. I would prefer if the product can be twisted into the tube completely like other lipsticks. That is all.
I don't really like these. I've bought a few & they don't feel good going on the lips. They're hard, not creamy & end up giving you a very strange texture to the lips. Just... a huge miss.
