Cheaper alternative
I have these in 2 shades, white and a dark magenta pink. I picked this product up because it was very cheap and I wanted to give it a shot. There isn't anything special about these polishes. The formula is what you get for the price you pay, the pigmentation of this is better when you put on 2 coats of colour. The drying time of this is the same as any other drugstore brand. I find that when you wear this colour it does chip faster than the other brands also it cracks as well when you put top coat to prevent chipping. The only problem that I have with this product is that it dries out too fast in the bottle, before you even get to half the bottle, it gets super goopy and not wearable. The brush on this isn't too great either, it's thin and that makes it hard to control especially when I was using the white for French manicures.
For this product you really only get what you pay for.
Big Money
NYC's Big Money nail polish is a metallic, foil finish, green. NYC Defines it as a frost, but I disagree. I purchased my .45fl oz bottle at Rite Aid for .99.
Packaging is basic. Nothing eye catching or flashy, but it gets the job done. The bottle is small, round, and made of glass. The cap is black plastic. The cap hasn't detached from the top of the brush yet. The brush is very long, thin, and quite flexible. It takes three strokes to cover my nail.
The color of this polish is pretty. The first two coats are pretty similar to the dull green color of money, the third coat is more of the color of play money.
This is a three coat polish. The first coat is incredibly sheer and barely deposits any color at all. The second coat adds some more color, but its still very sheer. The third coat finally makes it wearable, however its still quite sheer. I suppose thats what makes it a frost finish. I still call it a foil though. The finish is very shiny and pretty.I like it.
Big Money takes about 1 to 1:15 minutes to dry, decent dry time. This polish doesn't claim to be a fast dry.
The wear time for Big Money is pretty poor. I've gotten a maximum of two days worth of wear. Fail. It's usually much less. A few hours to a day. The polish starts wearing at the tip and chipping in the corners almost immediately. After a few hours, the edges come up and the polish peels off in one big piece, usually unprovoked. I'm obviously disappointed, first off, since this is supposedly a "long wearing" nail polish, and secondly, because I've had several polishes from NYC's Long Wearing line, and they all are practically indestructible. Sometimes I get more than 10 days of wear. How amazing is that for a buck?
I forgot to mention the formula of this polish. Like most foils the formula is thin, but Big Money's is exceptionally thin, runny, and watery. It tends to collect in the corners and pool in certain spots.
Overall, NYC's Big Money is a definite skip. The color and finish are pretty, but it's wear is so poor its not even worth a dollar really. Instead spend you .99 on another NYC Long Wearing Nail Enamel. The glitters are especially good. Big Money was a fluke in a good, affordable line of polishes.
Nice
I really like NYC nail polish because I change mine so much, I really like paying less than $2 for a polish I'm going to take off the next day. I apply about 2 coats, and a top coat. Again I change it often, but it last.
cool
I got this nail polish completely free because target had an online coupon for the nail polish... i like it... i got every single color.. it stayed on my nails for about 4 days then it started to chip... but no worries i have about 15 different colors i can apply nxt lol - TIP: 2-3 coats of this will due.
Extra Shiny Top Coat
I bought this two days go to see if i could like this top coat just because i usually ge the Seche top coat that i looove but i am on a crazy budget and thought let me try this inexpesive one so my nails can still look good...well ya not good at all theres bubbles eveywhere my nails look horrible! not even for the price was this worth it, i really wish it was good i really wanted it to be.
I quite like this nail polish!
I have this nail polish in skin tight denim creme. Its my go to navy polish. Its so pretty with its pretty blue sheen. Its very dark with only one coat! It worth its dollar or whatever it costs. I dont know about other people but I like it. I have discovered that this does chip very easily. When i got bored I just peeled it off all my nails. Good for a day and thats it.
I have tangerine creme and top coat:)
MISS MISS MISS MISS
For the price I shouldn't be surprised. It was fine throughout the day, washing dishes, cleaning house, bumping into things. UNTIL I TOOK A SHOWER! After taking a full 20 minute shower after my workout, my nails looked a mess! the nail enamel was cracked, chipped, flaking off of my nail! You could even see the top coat coming off of the undercoat! I got it at walmart for .93 cents, but I guess you get what you buy for that amount. I only use it on my toes now.....bleh...
Great for the price !
I own every one of the colors that they carry in the store I shop at . I do a lot of nail designs on me and my daughter so it's nice to have a wide selection of colors . They usually become opaque with 2 coats , I have only had a couple that did not . They are not long lasting ,but if you are constantly changing your nail color they are perfect for the price . I will continue to buy this product ,but only for my designs . When I am going for just a solid nail , I will stick with a little higher end product .
You get what you pay for...
Bought a couple of NYC nail polishes for about a $1 each and was severely disappointed in the quality of the product. The color is not opaque at all, takes about 3-4 coats to actually get decent color. It's not long-lasting. I've applied the nail polish to my nails one night and the next morning after m shower, it would begin to chip off. Definitely not worth spending a $1 on.
Not worth a $1
I was excited to try out NYC. polishes because they are so inexpensive. I have had success with other NYC products, like blush and eyeliner, so I had high expectations for their nail polish. Unfortunately it peels of in less than 24 hours. The polish doesn't hold up to anything! Even with a top coat I couldn't get more than 2-3 days of wear before they became embarrassingly chipped. The polish doesn't go on consistently and in light colors it is almost impossible to get a nice even finish. If you're looking for high quality, inexpensive polish check out SH Hard as Nails Extreme Wear.
