Good to use as a base
I use them as a base for eye shadows. The help to make the colors more vivid. "Bad to the Bronze" is my favorite one. I suggest that you try them out. They remind me of M.A.C. paint pots and they are far more inexpensive.
Awesome pigment it's unbelievable for a drugstore item. This is everything you want in a cream shadow- high pigment, long lasting, sets to a skin finish, no creasing! This is really the only cream shadow I'll ever try because I doubt anything is better than this. My fav is Tough As Taupe, one swipe all over the lid, some liner/mascara and theres a quick beautiful eye look!
Awesome for a shimmery wash on the lids that makes eyes pop
At first glance this cream eyeshadow may seem average and boring but on the lids it looks amazing! It has the perfect amount of shimmer to put all over the lids and to use as a inner corner highlight. Definitely looking forward to wear this in the hot humid summer weather since this is basically waterproof and lasts all day hence the 24 hour label. Since this is not limited edition, I recommend everyone to pick this up!
This makes makeup effortless! You just glide some on your eyelids and thats all. This color looks great underneath shadows as well, which is a definite plus! I love how simple this is. Plus, its really creamy and lasts FOREVER. By the time I take my makeup off at night, this still looks the same as when I first applied it. I will most definitely be repurchasing!
No Other Teal Needed
Hands-down the most pigmented teal eyeshadow I've ever used—and that includes drugstore and high-end eyeshadows. Stays put and never fades until I need to take it off, and it's one of the Color Tattoos that I'd proudly wear without any other eyeshadows.
Too Much Work for Little Color Pay-Off
It's a shame that this Color Tattoo is so sheer compared to the rest of the shades in the product family, and even more of a shame that I usually like purple eyeshadows and that this one was a disappointment. This is a more matte, basic purple that looks pigmented in the pot but blends out so sheer, and unevenly! The more I blend out uneven, clumpy areas, the sheerer it becomes, until I've practically rubbed it all off. I have more luck packing on more color and building up the intensity... but then at the end of the day it just feels really heavy. Not to mention, this creases if I don't wear a powder eyeshadow over it.
I love all of the Color Tattoos but this is the only shade that's been a let-down. I've been hunting for the limited edition shade Fuschia Fever in hopes that it's much better than Painted Purple.
Too Light for My Skin; Best as a Highlighter
This is the first of the five Metallics I was able to get my hands on, and I must say I'm on the fence about it. It's a really pretty color but I find myself having to sheer it out and use it more as a base for other eyeshadows because it's so intensely light. It's not so starkly white as Too Cool, but it's about just as frosty, so I tend to use this more as a highlighter for the inner corners of my eyes, the middle of my eyelid, and on my brow bone. It's definitely more of an eye brightener than an eyeshadow as far as I've used it. Bad to the Bronze suits my skintone much better, but Barely Beige may be a great neutral shadow for those with naturally pale skin.
My Go-to for Day-to-Night Eyeshadows
My favorite shade out of all the Color Tattoos! I find it to be the most versatile of any of the shades, as it's a great neutral base and a great, classic shade of an eyeshadow in and of itself. I love pairing this with powder eyeshadows because it's soft and so easy to blend into, and because it's neutral it's hard to mess up. I love wearing this as a base and lid color, with purple or cool-toned powder eyeshadows smoking the outer corners of my eyelids. It's a great day-to-night eyeshadow, and I've never really had to go out looking for eyeshadow primers since using this.
Pigmented, Long-Lasting, and Versatile
These are by far my favorite cream eyeshadows; I have 10 of them! For their low price point, nearly all of them are incredibly well-pigmented and have great staying power, and are great as a tinted base for powder eyeshadows or even as sheer wash of color. I don't feel that they hold up to their "24HR" promise on their own, especially since I have oily eyelids which sometimes causes colors to crease if I don't wear powder eyeshadow over it. But it it's still an easy fix to just blend it into itself again. The pigmentation is quite intense for most of the colors, with minimal fading throughout the day and into the evening.
These come in sturdy glass jars no different than most gel eyeliners (in fact the product melts like one too). I personally do not like jar packaging as I find it not so hygienic, and the longer the jars are opened and exposed, the more prone the product is to drying out. But this kind of packaging allows for the eyeshadow to be versatile as I can apply this as an eyeshadow with my fingers or an eyeshadow brush, or I can apply it as a smudge-proof colored eyeliner using an eyeliner brush.
Something to note about these eyeshadows is that nearly all of them come in a shimmery finish; the only three that come in matte finishes are Fierce & Tangy, Painted Purple, and Tough as Taupe. The color selection for the permanent catalog is also very basic as opposed to L'Oreal's permanent Infallibles, but Maybelline does offer more sophisticated Color Tattoos as seasonal limited edition shades.
Lastly, not all of the colors are equally pigmented; I have nearly all of the Color Tattoos in the permanent catalog, and I have found that Painted Purple takes a little more work to build up its intensity than any of the other shades (in fact, it looks like a watercolor wash when applied), and Bold Gold is not so bold as one might think, since it sheers out quite a bit and the gold flecks in it are more noticeable. But I suppose that's why they released Gold Rush in their Metallic Color Tattoos.
Overall I find that these make quite durable bases for amping up my irreplaceable powder eyeshadows, and haven't really had a need to purchase any other eyeshadow primers or bases since.
I love these especially Pomegranate Pink. They stay all day and they are really pigmented. Pomegranate Pink is absolutely beautiful and I found it works perfectly with my hazel eyes. Only thing is it is way easier to apply with a brush than with your finger. When I apply with just my finger it is hard to keep in the place you are trying to put it.
I would recommend this to anyone!! Great product for a great price.
