MAC Paint Pot
Absolutely LOVE this as an eye shadow base. I was debating between the painterly and this one and the MAC makeup artist suggested this one. Its more of a yellow undertone and painterly was more of a pinkish. Absolutely love it - covers any veins or discoloration on my eye and holds my shadow on ALL day!!
Meh...
Groundwork was a bit of a disappointment for me. I was hoping for a color that was a match for my skintone but this one is a little chalky on me. Overall, I do like the Paint Pots, you really only need a tiny bit and they last a long time. However, I prefer the new 24-hour color tatoo's from Maybelline. I'm probably going to give my Groundwork to a friend and stick with my color tatoo's.

one of my favorite MAC products
I own
Painterly
Bare study
Indianwood
Pros- they glide on SMOOTH... very nice when they go one and as soon as they go on they set and dry. Not a sticky dry, it sets as a powder dry. Stays all day. No creasing or smudging and can be used as an eyes hadow primer.
Cons- hard for pigmented loose eye shadow to stick at times.
I would definitley recommend these to anyone. My favorite is the Indianwood it's like a shiny dark gold/metallic color. The painterly is a very matte color no glitter. can be used as a good base. Bare study is like a pearl shiny white.
amazing!
Okay, first, let me get this straight:
This isn't an eyeshadow primer; this is an eyeshadow BASE. There's a difference. Eyeshadow primers are used to make your eyeshadow stay put, last longer, and apply vibrantly. They prevent the natural oils on your eyelid from breaking down your eyeshadow.
Eyeshadow bases are used to help your eyeshadow adhere to your lids and get good color pay-off, but not necessarily meant to prevent creasing.
So for those of you who thought Paint Pots didn't work for you, remember that they're not meant to prep or prime your eyelids, so you might want to try using a primer and a base to get the best of both worlds.
That said, I absolutely LOVE Paint Pots! Painterly is my favorite because of its neutral color. It's a matte nude beige that's incredibly versatile. It has no pink or yellow undertone, so it works with any eyeshadow color.
The creamy consistency is very easy to work with. For convenience, I simply use my ring finger to apply and blend.
I use this underneath my eyeshadows and MAC pigments so that they can adhere better (my eyelids are oily) and stay put without transferring or smudging.
This, in my opinion, is an absolute must-have in everyone's makeup bag, along with Urban Decay Primer Potion and a good concealer.
And the $17.50 price isn't bad at all, considering a little goes a long way (you only need a little bit per eye).
Would I repurchase? Yes.
natural and is the best primer ive tried
painterly works so well with my skin tone and holds my eye shadows sooooooo well. i absolutely love it. and it hides the vains on my eyes and literally does the job. im so glad they came out with this, and i will be buying again.
It does work.
It does hold my eye shadow all day but I want something that feels lighter on my eyes. I have had it for awhile and it's starting to crack around the sides. and I'm looking for a more sanitary way of primer like something in a tube? If anyone knows a better product I'm all ears :)
Pretty good but...
My first experience with these paint pots was not good. I bought Rubenesque years ago and it dried out within the first month. I tried getting my money back but I wasn't able to do...I basically wasted about $20. For years I decided to stay away from these and try other primers. However, I recently decided to give them a try again and I bought painterly. This primer works great and I LOVE IT. This shade is matte and it can be used as a primer for ANY color. I have learned that you MUST use a brush (synthetic) in order to avoid oil from your fingers from drying it out. You have to close the container as soon as you're done with it and make sure the lid is on properly. Once it's dried out there's no way of fixing it...some people recommend microwaving it but it's not really safe to do that plus it doesn't work AT ALL. The ideal brush to use is http://www.maccosmetics.com/product... but any smaller synthetic brush does the trick. I use one of the Sonia Kashuk brushes.

Stays without primer
I've had mine for about 2 or 3 years now and it is starting to get a ring around it meaning it is drying out. I also have fresco rose which is almost completely dried out even though i got them at the same time ): But they do stay all day without a primer underneath except for fresco rose. Since it has dried out quite a bit i need a primer underneath for it to stay. Good products overall!
