Four-strand 3-D braid

Also called a four-strand round braid, there are plenty of tutorials for this style all over YouTube. It's a little difficult to do on your own hair until you realize you don't really have to hold your hair in the palm-up fashion most people use. Another secret I use on all my braids: if your strands blend together on accident, just combine the loose hair and section out again. Perfectly done braids are only cool for kindergarten anyway. ;)
