I created two inside-out French braids on each side of my head, starting from the hairline and going all the way to the ends. I secured the first braid with a small elastic while I worked on the second one. Then I removed the elastic and twisted both braids into a bun.

Trick for keeping the bun interesting and in place: I crossed the braids over and under each other a couple of times as if beginning to tie a shoe before twisting the ends around the base and pinning.
