Beauty Product Reviews

Dries the quickest

Pros: Dry time is shortest and finish is the shiniest of all quick-dry topcoats I've used Cons: Dries out quickly

Seche Vite dries my polish completely in less than 10 minutes (if I'm doing thin coats). It also gives the highest shine out of all the quick-drying topcoats I've tried. It's easy to apply and doesn't reveal brush strokes. It also evens out minor flaws in the polish application. Average time it takes for my polish to chip with this topcoat is about 5 days.

However, it tends to dry out after a while, even when capped tightly and kept in a cool place. You have to purchase a bottle of Seche Restore to make sure you get a useable consistency all the way to the end. Also, make sure not to paint your coats too thickly or it tends to bubble.

Great quick-drying topcoat, will definitely repurchase.

Lasting

Pros: Lasts Cons: Weird shimmery frosty colour when you apply a thick layer

I have the lip and cheek stain in Mango Crush and Acai Crush. Oddly enough, I find that the Mango Crush is less drying on the lips than the Acai Crush. It has great staying power, and lasts a good 3-4 hours, even with eating and drinking. When the original colour fades, it doesn't feather, but leaves a soft peachy stain on my lips. Make sure to apply this on dry lips, BEFORE lip balm and lipstick.

Amazing stain

Pros: Highly pigmented, lasts forever Cons: Twist dispenser is not precise

This is a very, VERY pigmented stain. It comes up a dark, blue-based berry red on my lips and is way too dark to use as a cheek stain. As this was exactly what I was looking for, I was very happy to find this product. If you're looking for a subtle red stain, then this isn't the right product.

As this is a stain, it just lasts and lasts. It does fade a little if you eat and drink with it on, and becomes sort of a dark pinkish red. I have found that no matter what I do - eat, drink, lick my lips, smear lip balm all over, kiss - it is still impossible to get rid of this lip stain.

Application is a little difficult as the twist dispenser doesn't let you control precisely how much product comes out. If you're not careful, you can also put too much product in the same area and end up with blotchy-looking lips that are hard to fix. When keeping the lip stain, be sure to store it horizontally. If you keep it on its tip for a long time, the liquid will flow out and pool in the cap.

All in all though, this is a fantastic product that I will definitely repurchase. If you're looking for a lip product that will last through hell or highwater, this is it. Make sure to apply it on dry lips, before lip balm and lipstick.

Great colour

Pros: Affordable, highly pigmented, beautiful colours Cons: Doesn't last long

This is an amazingly creamy lipstick that glides on smoothly. I only need 1 thin coat for satisfactory coverage, and 2 thin coats for full opacity. However, it doesn't really set but remains creamy, which causes it to feather and fade rather quickly (in about 2 hours). This might be less of a problem if you're wearing a lighter shade, or if you're using lip primer.

Pretty but difficult to apply

Pros: Affordable, looks amazing Cons: Takes forever to dry, brush doesn't grip product

I have this in Disco Queen, Green, and Gold. They are all breathtakingly beautiful. They do show up very glittery on the lid even from afar. However, my Asian lids tend to fold under themselves. The long dry time on these means that they get smudged sooner or later, every single time. The brush on these is also made of some weird plasticky fibre that doesn't grip the product well. You have to dip the brush several times to get a good amount of glitter on it. However, I will keep using this product for its sheer prettiness.

Meh

Pros: Affordable, easy to use Cons: Not pigmented

Since this is basically a felt-tip pen, it's super easy to use. It's also super cheap. However, it just refuses to show up well at all. I had to use light strokes and patiently go over the lines again and again to get an even coat of colour. Not a good pen liner at all.

Amazing!

Pros: Affordable, amazingly pigmented, lasts forever Cons: Slight feathering, slightly drying

I have this in Pure Red. This is the most amazing bright red lipstick ever. If you apply this on exfoliated and prepped lips, it glides on smoothly and evenly. You only need 1 coat to achieve full coverage. Despite its opacity, this lipstick is not oily, caky or thick at all. It feels very, very light on my lips.

It might start to feather after 2 hours or so, but I find that blotting and touching up extends the wear time tremendously. It's also slightly drying on my lips, but I have drip lips that are prone to chapping.

For the price, I believe this is the best quality lipstick you can get!

Not bad

Pros: Affordable, intensifies colour, doesn't hamper blendability of shadows Cons: Doesn't prevent creasing

Like all NYX products, this eyeshadow base is super affordable. As a primer+base, it doesn't do much for my oily lids, and I find that my makeup creases and smudges as usual. Over UDPP, it does work moderately well in increasing the pigmentation of eyeshadows, but then again, so do the NYX Jumbo Pencils, which are cheaper.

Affordable quality

Pros: Affordable, pigmented, lasting, blendable Cons: Need a good brush, funny sized jar opening

I have this in Mink and Oro. Although they're both pretty light colours, I find that the they are really pigmented, especially when used over a primer. They have good staying power too, and will stay on my lids for a good 4-6 hours, or a whole day if you're using a primer. They can be easily blended.

However, as with all pigments, you'll need a good brush to pick up the product and deposit it on your eyelids where you want it without too much fallout. The size of the opening on the jar is also too tiny for me to dip my brush in (although that's not too hygienic, haha) so I have to pour the product out in a pan to use. This usually results in pigment everywhere and quite some wastage.

Minor complaints aside, this is an amazing product that rivals much pricier brands like MAC. There really isn't anything bad I can say about these shadows.

Perfect

Pros: Affordable, doesn't feather, good colour payoff, lasts well, not sticky Cons: A tad difficult to apply. You need to layer to get it opaque, and you have to wait for each layer to dry.

I have this in Tokyo and Stockholm. Stockholm is a slightly rosy, nude, natural colour on me. Tokyo is a very light powdery pink, and thanks to its name, it reminds me slightly of ganguro girls.

These are seriously amazing. The texture is like nothing I've ever used before. It glides on easily like a cream, but sets dry and matte after a while. It's not thick at all, and on the first coat you'll get a moderately sheer application. For more opacity, you can apply more coats, but be sure to wait for each coat to dry first.

This lip cream NEVER feathers, which amazes me every time. It just sets and sticks to your lips where you put it. It also lasts a reasonably long time, about 2-3 hours while drinking.

This is the best lip product I've ever purchased for the price, and I recommend that every one should try it for themselves.
