Beauty Product Reviews

On the fence!

I love MAC products and the way they feel on my skin, especially the baked powders feel wonderful. But, I'm not a huge fan of powders at all, I don't find them flattering on my skin and I just look cakey and it really exaggerates my pores actually as well! I do think that this is the best powder I have used though, but I can't put it on my nose or the pores just like slap you in the face screaming "LOOK AT ME". This review sounds really negative but it did do a great job of keeping my makeup in place without creasing at all, and it would last all day. I completely used it up and it's now sitting in my back to mac draw, it's not often that I do use up a product to the very end so that in itself has something to say about this. :)

Diva Batiste Dry Shampoo. Gorgeous!

I have been a loyal follower of Batiste since my first festival, coming up to 2 years ago now. About a month before I discovered how good dry shampoo was when I dyed my hair red and needed to hold the colour with less washes. I'd always heard of it being like in baby powder form and i was like hmmm, really? But Batiste Tropical converted me, after that I had Batiste Blush for literally a year, then when I went to repurchase, it wasn't in stock. I was outraged but tried the Tresemme Invisible, which was utterly visible but it did the job. I'd also tried the Lee Stafford Poker Straight Dry Shampoo, which smells amazzzinnnggg! But it didn't really do a brilliant job for 'ungreasing' my hair, i found my hair still looked a bit greasy and gross. Forgive my rambling, I'm going somewhere with this. Last week I needed to repurchase a dry shampoo, all out of other options and saw a Batiste i'd never tried before, Diva. I didn't read the scent description, chucked it in my basket because it looked pretty - and it's Batiste!! Anyway, it's the best smelling hair product i've owned before, really interesting fragrance and it does the same great things that Bastiste always does!

Beautiful

I've already left a review about sketch here but Sable is in my everyday makeup bag and is a lovely bronze toned colour that looks brilliant in my crease paired with no7 stay perfect eyeshadow in mink on my lid. it's so soft and smooth but really interesting. It's not another boring brown. There's red and bronze and brown all in this one shadow to create a perfect mix. And if you want to make it a little bit more extreme, it looks good as a brown smokey eye too! Can't say enough good things.

BOOO!

I bought this product a while ago from a counter in John Lewis, I'd say around mid-June. I walked in, white as a sheet like normal with utterly no makeup on, no fake tan no nothing, looking for the 'Silk Cream Foundation' and the assistant was like no no no that's too heavy for your skin, you need to try this, handing me the moisturising foundation. I was like okay well can I swatch it and she turned to the counter and grabbed 'warm ivory' and proceded to put it on me. She also put it on using her fingers which I also thought was odd. I bought the foundation believing friends that were like yeah it looks good! SoI went home continued with life, the next day I went to apply my foundation and was horrified with my orange face!!!!!!!! She gave me the complete wrong colour, I'm usually the lightest shade in everything but after visiting the Laura Mercier website, it's like the 4th shade along. Safe to say, I was pissed after spending £36 for something I didn't want....but, there was no way I was wasting it. I'd checked the policy for returns and apparantly I didn't fall under it.

Now, I had to tell you about that so that you would know my bias. That being said, it does have a nice finish, especially because my skin is a little dry and it's easily buildable. I wouldn't describe the finish as either matte or dewy. It's in the middle sort of. But, if you have any excess oil on your face, it goes streaky and slides right off. I wouldn't reccomend applying this with your fingers (no matter what the sales lady does) application with either a sponge or a dense brush and reeeeeealllllllyyyyyy buff it in! I find it doesn't make a difference whether you work areas seperately or dab it all over and blend it in....it just needs a lot of buffing. The problem with that though is on days when you're lazy, as soon as you put on your powder, you are cakey and actually there's a sticky texture to the makeup too. Odd.

Brilliant formulation

I really enjoyed this concealer, it was easily blendable and simple to work with because of the liquid consitency but dried to a beautiful coverage on the skin, and let me feeling flawless and glamourour. Under the eyes it could sometimes crease throughout the day but on blemishes it was utterly amazing, I've not found a concealer that can compete yet. The heavy coverage isn't for everyone, but in a concealer, that's exactly what I'm looking for! I also used this as a foundation for a little while but I did find the heaviness of wearing it every day so much broke me out. And, it was very expensive.

There's a reason MAC's famous for it's lipsticks!

I love this colour, it's a beautiful true red that just pops next to my pale skin. The application is soft and feels luxurious. Also, it has brilliant staying power, I only find it ever fading if I'm eating. And I mean a meal, not a bite or two of a snack that won't effect it in the slightest. I really do love it and if I ever manage to make it down to the bottom, I wear it at least once a week and I haven't even noticed a dent in it, I'll definitely repurchase. My only fault is that if your lips are dry it's really obvious after applying this, but the same can be said for any lipstick, and the problem's soon fixed with some gloss.

Beautiful

My quick take describes it all, this colour is so soft and smooth with application. It being a 'velvet' finish is completely suiting, because that's what it feels like. I love it so much because it's so workable too, even though the colour is a little unusual. Sketch works amazingly as a base for a coloured smokey eye, on the lower lash line, as well as adding a pop of colour to a neutral eye to mix it up a little. I can't say enough about this eyeshadow, I bought it over the christmas period and I've found soooo many uses for it. It is literally amazing and I think it's my favourite eyeshadow from mac so far.

Great but like everything it has disadvantages!

I really do love the colour selection in this pallete, and the free primer potion is also a nice touch! The colours are easily workable and soft on your lid, they also have wonderful pay off and brilliant staying power even without any primer underneath, but, (yes there is a but) the fall out is horendous! I think it's the formula for Urban decay because my NYC palette does it as well.

All in all, worth the price and it will really become useful in your day to day makeup routine.

I think this product is really good if you use it very consistantly, however, if you wash your hair again without this product, the results are gone instantly. The same thing happens if your hair gets wet in the rain, etc. But i do love this product, and it works better and better the longer you leave it in for. There's a real noticeable difference between my hair without it, it just feels coarse and dry, but as soon as I put this in it feels much better. Like everyone else said, it smells amaaaaazing too!
