I’ve Been Using The Same Liquid Liner For 17 Years!

When I saw that Wet N Wild took home two trophies at the Allure Best Of Beauty Awards in September ("Best Bright Lipstick" for MegaLast Lip Color in Cherry Picking and “Best Cheap Thrill” for the ColorIcon Eyeshadow Trio), it came as no shock to me. I’ve been preaching about the budget brand's black liquid eyeliner since I was 14 years old, when I thought I'd try out a cat eye to channel my glamour idol Gwen Stefani. Since then, I’ve probably purchased 100 tubes of the stuff. When Target stopped carrying it, I had a panic attack and scoured the earth for it. And I have often declared the product as my deserted island must-have item (who needs food and water when you can look this good, I’ve rationalized).

Yes, that’s right, I’m a beauty writer who prefers Wet N Wild’s liquid liner over all others, for a couple of reasons. First, because it’s $3.99—sometimes I can even get it “buy one, get one free” at the grocery store, an aisle down from the milk. And second, because it’s the only liquid liner that doesn’t feather, bleed, smudge, or run down my face during a breakup or rainstorm. I’ve tried expensive felt-tip pens and cream-liquid pots o’ gold with fancy brushes, and none do the trick quite like my trusty Wet N Wild. It sweeps across the lid in one swift brush stroke. It’s consistent in dimension, line thickness, and color density. It stays put even after crushing your lashes with a curler for the tenth time, and it comes off easily with makeup remover (a must for the obsessive user like me).

And I know I’m not the only one since my beloved product has been out of stock lately. Could it be the buy-one-get-one-free deal or could it be that my secret's out? I have a feeling it’s the latter. Thanks, Allure, thanks a lot.
