Spring 2012 Nail Forecast

84

Our editorial team is still sporting fall 2011 nail trends, but we're already excited about next season's fresh inspiration! We turned to runway nail experts CND (who worked with 21 designers during fashion week) to discover the most dazzling and daring designs for the warmer months. "Manicures are no holds-barred this spring," said CND founder Jan Arnold. "Take your nails to the edge with abstract designs, illuminated finishes, and retro mod brights." Here are some top trends to look out for in 2012.

HYPER-SENSORY

Powerful, rocker cool nails reflected the vibrant attitude of spring 2012 fashion. We loved the "Mic Check Mani" at Nicole Miller, which color-checked intense brights! And who could forget about the flawless blue ombré seen at Jen Kao? A long, almond nail shape makes these designs extra special.

Beautylish recommends: CND Colour in Raspberry, Inkwell, Anchor Blue, and CND Ice Blue Shimmer Effect.

FUTURE TEXTURE

Spring's manicure is definitely more than meets the eye. Metallic weaves, opalescent chiffon, and manipulated fabrics give seemingly natural nails an otherworldly finish. The airbrushed lattice effect on the nails at Joy Cioci gave translucent, clear-tipped nails an extra punch of texture. At Wayne, white nails were feathered black and bold to shape graphic, avian-inspired designs.

Beautylish recommends: CND Colour in Brilliant White and Blackjack** **

_MAD MODS  _

Retro brights are just as popular for 2012. Shades of offbeat orange, yellow, and coral match your favorite swingin' sixties look. Pair a vibrant creamy pink with saturated orange tips (seen on the Milly and Wes Gordon runways) or tone things done with a mustard mani like we saw at Karen Walker.

Beautylish recommends: CND Colour in Electric Orange, Bicycle Yellow, and Poppyfield
