Gareth Pugh

PARIS FASHION WEEK S/S 2012

Models that look like newborn babies was makeup artist Alex Box's inspiration behind the look at Gareth Pugh, but if we were to take a stab, the look was more newborn babies from an outer galaxy.

Makeup

With the look featured on the stick-on, floating eye liner that Alex Box created from MINX nails, the rest of the face was extremely bare. Alex started with MAC Mineralize Charged Water Cleanser (available spring 2012)  to cleanse, refresh, and invigorate the skin. She then applied a layer of MAC Studio Moisture Fix SPF 15 to hydrate and prep the skin before blending in MAC Face & Body Foundation or MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation, avoiding the under eye area. To get brows to stick flat against the skin, she used Pros-Aide adhesive.

For the incredibly unique floating eye liner (which echoed the shows theme of cages, bars and lines), Alex affixed a clear piece of plastic with a line of white MINX nail to the brow using double-sided tape. She kept lips nude with MAC Lip Conditioner SPF 15.

Nails

Created to reflect the shape of the headpieces worn by models on the runway and the cage-like structure of the shoes, the MINX nails at Gareth Pugh were stripey and almost tribal-like in their design. The nails were super large, covering some of the finger as well as the nail bed to show off the unique, almond shape. Models wore a combination of black and white stripes or purple and silver stripes, both of which made a very graphic statement.
