Art is a major force for Shu Uemura, and their holiday collection doesn't disappoint. They've collaborated with acclaimed Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Kar Wai on a gorgeous holiday collection. Known for his unique narrative style, this award-winning director is responsible for famous films such as 1994's urban love story Chungking Express, 2000's period piece In The Mood For Love, and 2007's romantic drama My Blueberry Nights, starring Norah Jones. Wong Kar Wai's style spans from nostalgic to neo-noir, and is known for its saturated images, awe-inspiring cinematography, and evocative music (sometimes you feel like you're watching a music video, not a movie).
Shu Uemura and Wong Kar Wai collaborated on this fantasy makeup collection. Richly saturated shades combine with hazy textures for poetically glamorous effects on the face, and we're especially partial to the glittering marquee-like false lash strips. Wong Kar Wai's film Mask, an exclusive short created for the collection, accurately depicts his dreamy, nostalgic aesthetic. You can only watch the trailer for now, but Shu Uemura will release the full clip later in October!
