LONDON FASHION WEEK S/S 2012

The look at David Koma was tribal futuristic cool, and the makeup matched the minimalist graphic aesthetic. "She's manufactured tribal, made of fiberglass and perspex—from some kind of futuristic, icy age," said MAC makeup artist Mel.

Makeup

Mel prepped models' skin with MAC Prep + Prime Face Protect SPF 50, then lightly applied MAC Face & Body Foundation and MAC Select Moisturecover where needed. MAC Cream Colour Base in Luna and MAC Cream Eye Shadow in Palladium Metal X (available Spring/Summer 2012) were blended together and used to highlight upper cheekbones. Mel drew MAC Pro Eye Pencil in Wavyblue through the lower lash line from the inner corner halfway to the middle of the lower lid. MAC Clear Lipglass was applied over the eyelids and through the brows, which were then brushed straight outwards. Mel accented the eyes with MAC Pro Reflects Glitter in Blue in the inner and middle lid above curled lashes. Lastly, Mel concealed any natural lip color with MAC Pro Dim Lip Erase and MAC Cream Colour Base in Luna.

Nails

Legendary UK nail stylist Marian Newman was backstage creating custom custom tips and overlays at David Koma. Each of the 25 models on the runway wore a Minx nail design to set off her individual look. Color variations in sunshine yellow, pink, and turquoise mixed with translucent plastic and tribal patterned overlays, creating a unique burnished velvet effect that perfectly coordinated with the overall futuristic tribal aesthetic of the show.
