Best New York Spring 2012 Fashion Week Trends

After 48 shows—and countless makeup brushes, models, and coffee runs—New York Fashion Week is over. But that's not to say it didn't leave a lasting impression! A few trends became apparent during Fashion Week, and we were there to capture them all.

1. Bare Lashes

The biggest trend we saw at Fashion Week? Models without mascara. Lisa Butler at Bill Blass, Gucci Westman at J.Mendel, and Mai Quynh at Rebecca Minkoff all decided to leave lashes natural, as they described their looks as fresh, youthful, and pure. Next summer, lay off the mascara and let your lashes feel light and airy.

2. Hair Rolls

Forget braids—hair rolls are going to be the biggest trend next season. Tracy Reese had a '40s inspired version, Preen had hair rolled tightly around the whole head to create a sort of crown, and Badgley Mischka featured french rolls. These styles are easy to master with a little practice and some bobby pins, and can be worn in hundreds of ways. Get rolling!

3. Bright Lips

Seems as if the bright lip is here to stay. While last season we saw coral and orange lips take the stage, spring/summer 2012 is all about bright, purple-toned lipsticks. Think Luca Luca's fuchsia pouts by Gucci Westman, the purple mouths at Prabal Gurung, and glossy pink kissers at Betsey Johnson. Don't be afraid to make a statement.
