Vivienne Tam

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK S/S 2012

Curvillinear patterns, art nouveau-inspired patterns and Zen prints transformed Vivienne Tam's spring collection into an ocean of tranquility. Flowing fabrics in faded ultramarine, transparent white, and bright orange mixed with intricate orchid lace motifs—this may just be one of our favorite spring collections so far!

MAKEUP

"The makeup look at Vivienne Tam is inspired by the beauty of a Japanese zen garden," said Maybelline New York Artist Andy Koh. "The skin is clean and natural, while the lashes are long and curled. Metallic eyes and lips give this look a modern 70s vibe."

Andy used two different shades of Maybelline Fit Me! Foundation to naturally contour the skin. Inspired by a '70s metallic eye, he applied Maybelline Eye Studio Color Explosion Luminizing Eyeshadow in Forest Fury to the upper lid. Maybelline Eye Studio Color Plush Silk Eyeshadow in Irresistible Ivy's copper shade was applied to the upper crease and the outer corner for a glow around the perimeter of the lid. Andy heavily coated top and bottom lashes with Maybelline Volum' Express The Falsies Waterproof Mascara in Black Drama to reinforce the '70s eye. He then applied a sheer coating Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Lipcolor in Coral Luster, and finished the look with a swipe of Maybelline Shine Sensational Lip Gloss in Minty Sheer.

HAIR

Redken hairstylist Leon Gorman was too inspired by a zen garden, and created an organic messy bun that was pulled back into a low side part.

  1. Apply Redken Full Frame 07 Protective Volumizing Mousse liberally for thickness and

  2. texture. Blow dry the product into your hair.

  3. Blow dry your fringe against natural hair growth to create volume.

  4. Create a low part.

  5. Pull your back hair into a ponytail.

  6. Wrap hair and secure into loose bun with pins.

  7. Break up the messy parts and spray with Redken Fashion Work 12 Versatile Working Spray for a light hold.
