February 15, 5:00pm EST, New York, NY--Aveda lead stylist Antoinette Beenders created a glossy and refined flat pony using Aveda Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair, Aveda Control Force Firm Hold Hair Spray, and Aveda Brilliant Spray-On Shine at the Sophie Theallet Fall/Winter 2011 show.
"The hair at Sophie Theallet this season looks chic and beautiful," says Antoinette Beenders, lead stylist for Aveda, "A glossy ponytail cascades down the back and is topped with a black beret. A black silk ribbon tied around the neck and over the ponytail imparts a restrained edge, reflective of Sophie's bad-girl muse."

Hair NYFW fall 2011 Aveda at Sophie Theallet
-
Apply Aveda Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair to damp hair to repair and protect from heat styling. Blow dry straight with a Mason Pearson brush.
-
Create a center part using a fine-tooth comb and flat-iron from roots to ends to give hair a straight, super-sleek look.
-
Create a low, loose "ponytail" below just the nape of the neck. Instead of securing with an elastic, wrap a black silk ribbon around the neck, tying in a double-knot over the hair at the back of the neck. Spray Aveda Control Force Firm Hold Hair Spray to keep hair in place.
-
Place a beret on the head, just covering the hairline above the forehead.
-
Complete with a generous mist of Aveda Brilliant Spray-On Shine for a glossy finish.
Q&AAntoinette Beenders for aveda & Sophie Theallet
Q: What was your inspiration for this look? How did you collaborate with the designer to create the look?
"Sophie's collection this season is inspired by a bad girl who tries to be good--but her bold personality can't help but shine through. We wanted to create something sexy that is both tough and ladylike." -- Antoinette Beenders for Aveda
Q: How could a woman achieve this look on her own?
"This style is youthful, sexy, and easy to recreate. Part hair in the center and straighten hair with a flat-iron for sleekness, then coat with Aveda Brilliant Spray-On Shine for high gloss. Pull hair into a low ponytail below the nape of the neck, secure loosely with an elastic, and then cover with a beret. Tie a piece of black ribbon around the neck and over the ponytail, double-knotting in the back." -- Antoinette Beenders for Aveda

"My collection was inspired by strong women like Faye Dunaway in Bonnie and Clyde and French actress Beatrice Dalle in Betty Blue. I love the idea of a self-assured woman trying to disguise herself as an unassuming lady, but her confidence cannot be contained. She looks fresh, beautiful--youthful without being girly or cute." -- Sophie Theallet
